From Palmer River Elementary School

March 22, 2024
Dear Palmer River Elementary School Community,
We hope this message finds you well as we approach the end of another trimester and the beginning of spring. We are pleased to announce that second trimester report cards are now available for viewing in Aspen as of today, March 22, 2024. Families can access their student's report card by logging into the Aspen Portal using their credentials. If you encounter any difficulties with logging in or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office for assistance.
On a celebratory note, we are thrilled to highlight the remarkable achievement of Mrs. Read's third-grade class, who secured second place in the Reading Rocks Reading Challenge sponsored by George Family Orthodontics. Please join me in extending heartfelt congratulations to the students in Mrs. Read's class, who collectively read an impressive total of 7,887 pages during the month of January. Your dedication to reading is truly commendable, and your success in this challenge is a testament to your enthusiasm for learning.
As always, we are here to support you in any way we can. Should you require assistance or have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us using the contact information provided below.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend filled with joy and relaxation.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Kristine Kefor, Principal & Dr. Cheryl Leandro, Assistant Principal

A Note From The Health Office
WHEN TO KEEP OUR CHILDREN HOME FROM SCHOOL
We all want students to have good attendance; however, there may be times when they are too ill to come to school. You cannot learn when you are unwell and you risk infecting others if you have a communicable disease. The protocols below are suggested by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Please keep your learner at home when they are experiencing:
Fever
An elevation of body temperature above normal ( oral 100.0ºF )
Should not return until afebrile (without fever) for 24 hours without the aid of antipyretics (Tylenol, Motrin/Ibuprofen).
- When the child is experiencing an increased number of loose stools (compared with his/her normal pattern).
Rest and fluids until 24 hours after diarrhea stops
Child has vomited in the previous 24 hours.
Remain home for 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting.
The child must be able to tolerate a meal without vomiting.
Respiratory
Respiratory infections are common. If the child does not have fever, does not appear to have decreased activity or other symptoms, it is not necessary for the child to stay home.
Respiratory hygiene and etiquette should be promoted.
- Strep Throat requires at least 24 hours of antibiotic therapy before returning to school. In some cases, your clinician will recommend 48 hours.
- Conjunctivitis requires antimicrobial drops/ointment. A student must be treated for twenty-four hours before returning to school.
Be Well-
