Dear Parents & Carers,

Thank you for your unwavering support throughout this week at Carleton Park J & I School. Our pupils have once again showcased their exceptional qualities, embodying our school values of resilience, respect, independence, teamwork, and excellence.

Here are some highlights from the week:

1. World Book Day: Led by Miss Brook and our dedicated Year 6 Reading Ambassadors, the children enjoyed a fantastic day filled with enriching reading experiences.
2. Year 6 Girls Tag Rugby Tournament: Our outstanding girls participated in four games, securing three victories and finishing in an impressive 3rd place. Congratulations to the team for their hard work and sportsmanship.
3. Planetarium Experience: The hall hosted a mesmerizing planetarium, providing our students with a real-life experience of the solar system. The children haven't stopped talking about this captivating event.

Looking ahead to next week:

• Year 5 Residential Visit to Marrick Priory: Our Year 5 students are set to embark on an exciting adventure to Marrick Priory in Swaledale. This unique experience will challenge their resilience, teamwork, and independence skills in one of the most beautiful places in the country. We wish them a fantastic and enriching time.
• Comic Relief Bun Sale: We'll be raising money for Comic Relief with a 'bun sale.' Children are encouraged to bring in buns on Thursday, and the sale will take place on Friday morning. Your support is greatly appreciated.

As we head into the weekend, we hope you all have a fantastic time, and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday.

The focus for each Headteacher Award throughout the year will be our new school values! The school values are an integral part of what we stand for at Carleton Park and are values that we believe will ensure our children are successful in not just their educational journey but life in general.

Looking for fun activities for the whole family AND a chance to support a great cause? Look no further!

Join the Girl Guides on Sunday 24th March from 11am - 3pm at Guiding HQ on Carleton Park Road for a fantastic fundraising event to help renovate the hut.

There will be:

• Games and stalls for all ages
• Chocolate tombola
• Book Stall
• Refreshments

It's also the prefect opportunity to learn more about Girlguiding in the local area or just grab a brew and a biscuit and a chat with our friendly leaders!

Because Carleton Park J & I School are a School Street School closing Moxon Close to enable safer travel for our children, parents can sign up to the Learn to Ride a bike sessions. These will take place on Tuesday 26th and Thursday 28th March at The Outdoor Athletics Track, Thornes Park, Wakefield.

The one hour sessions are free, and bikes and helmets are provided.

It is open to all children over 5 years old.

Learn to Ride a Bike

These sessions always fill up really fast, but we have priority until Wednesday 13th March. After this date it will be open to all schools in Wakefield and places may not be available.

Where is it? - It takes place at St Mary’s Community Centre in Chequerfield, on the third Sunday of every month. The next event is in the run up to Easter, is 17th March.

What is it? - A different form of church, which includes crafts and other activities, and free shared food. Its aimed at being accessible for people of all ages, including families with children. Everyone is very welcome, whether they’ve ever been to church before or not.

All events are communicated here as soon as they are confirmed

• 15th - Red Nose Day - Bun sale to raise money for Comic Relief. Donations baked or bought needed please. Children can bring cash in a named envelope to buy a bun.
  
• 18th - Y3 and Y4 Trip to York's Chocolate Story - Please see letter on website and MCAS for payment
• 18th - Reception and Year 1 Easter Service visiting a Church
• 19th - Parent Craft Morning - Reception - Parents Invited to make Easter Bonnets - Please see poster on website - event starts at 2.10pm.
• 20th - Y5 going to see Matilda at The King's High School - 1pm.
• 21st - SATs Meeting for Year 6 Parents - Y6 Classroom at 3.15pm
• 22nd - Easter Disco - Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 in school time, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 from 3.15pm until 4.15pm. Children can bring party clothes to change into. Tickets cost £2.00 and include a snack and a drink.

Reception, KS1 and KS2 Clubs

Clubs run from 3.10pm to 4.10pm. Children are collected from the Main Entrance.

Please make sure if your child is booked onto a physical club they bring some jogging bottoms/shorts, t shirt, jumper and footwear suitable for the weather on the day. Activities can be held inside or outside.

Please note-clubs will run from next week for 4 weeks, until the end of term and are available to book on MCAS
