MST Weekly Update
April 19, 2024

Good afternoon to all of our MST family members.
This week we had our spring spirit week sponsored by the senior class. Every day had a theme and a lunchtime event. Today, as a fundraiser for the class, Senior class advisor Ms. Passamonte agreed to be taped to the wall (pictured). Students could buy a piece of tape for $1 and over 200 pieces were purchased. The tape held and suspended Ms. Passamonte about 2 feet off the ground. Thanks to her for volunteering to do this.
When we return from vacation on 4/29, there will be 34 school days left (29 for seniors). For students who are still at a competency level of 1 on the most recent report card, that is not a lot of time to get everything completed. This week, letters were sent out to the families of nearly 30 seniors (or early graduates) who are significantly behind in classes needed for graduation. The deadline for handing in any overdue work will be Friday May 31st (I mistakenly put Friday May 28th in the letter which does not exist!) Hopefully students can take some time during vacation week to get back on track.
Mass Casualty Drill
Earlier this week our students from Health Science, EMT, Fire Fighter1, Criminal Justice, Cosmetology and Auto participated in a Simulation Event. This Mass Casualty event is the culmination of a Semester Long preparation from the above mentioned CTE's. This is THE WOW that students get so excited about. Learning in the classroom then applying their skills in a real world experience! This is what keeps students engaged and coming back to MST. Students were Amazing!! Thank you to all involved!
Manufacturing Field Trip
On Monday April 15 th our Manufacturing students visited Hypertherm in Hanover N.H. Hypertherm is a world leader in the manufacturing of plasma, laser and water cutting equipment. MST students interacted with many different employees and had opportunities to work with a new robotic system at the facility. They also got the chance to interact with hand operated plasma cutting systems and problem-solving activities, all of these being typical experiences the students would see in industry.
The manufacturing technology students were professional and asked many relevant questions pertaining to the manufacturing of metal cutting equipment.
Hypertherm has always supported MST and all our students and we greatly appreciate their support.
