Have you applied/reapplied for Free and Reduced Priced Meals?
Free or reduced-price meals are available to students based on household size and income. If income falls below the amount listed below for household size, then students living within the household may qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Students are automatically eligible for free meals if the family receives assistance under the Food Supplement Program or Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) benefits.
Changes and/or status changes occur every year. This year there will be a price category change as of October 11, 2023. Please be sure to apply or reapply in the event your price category is affected by this change.

Attendance
Please note we have implemented a Google form for submission of absences/late arrivals and notes. This form is the only acceptable method of communication and must be utilized for reporting absences/late arrivals and uploading doctor/medical notes ONLY for your student(s). With the exception of COVID reporting in which an email in addition to the absence form must be sent to Nurse Ann, Dr. Fryson and Mrs. Virgil.

ABSENT NOTE SUBMISSION: Please complete this form within three (3) days once your child returns to instruction. Excused absences cannot be placed into SchoolMax until AFTER the child returns to instruction. Family vacations and trips are not considered excused absences. Refer to the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook for further clarification regarding excused and unexcused absences.

Nurse Updates
Nurse Ann and the School Health Services strongly recommend wearing a mask and keeping one available in your child's backpack.
Please help yourself and others -- keep your scholars home when they are not well.
Immunizations
Immunizations must be up-to-date and received by the school nurse to prevent exclusion from school.
Medication forms are attached. Please hand carry newly prescribed medication in the pharmacy packaging. Any adult may deliver the medication to the nurse. (appointments must be made)

Our next fundraiser begins Tuesday March 12th at 7pm! Participants can download the Double Good app, and register with our unique Event Code: HZA JWM, please note that siblings will share an account. Then you can create and share your scholar's personal pop-up shop with family and friends! Double Good will handle shipping the orders for you!
50% of all proceeds will benefit CMIT ES PTO and there will be great prizes to the top fundraisers!

Kind Kindergarten News!
Hello Kindergarten Families:
ELA: We will start our new ELA book, reviewing middle sounds, short “Oo” and long “Oo”. Our sight words will be: find, over, again.
Social Studies:We will be working on weeks and months of the year.
Math: We are beginning topic 12; identifying and describing shapes.
Science: We are learning all about animals and their habitats.

A friendly reminder: Spring break starts March 25-April 1. We will also have an asynchronous day on April 2. Students will receive their asynchronous work on Friday, March 22nd.
Look out for an attendance form on April 2, so we may capture your scholar’s attendance for this day..

Next week, we will finish Unit 3, Traditions. Our spelling pattern is VC/C Closed Syllables.
In Math, we will begin topic 11, Subtract within 1,000 Using Models and Strategies. In Science, we will continue topic 5, Plants and Animals. In Social Studies, we will begin topic 5, Heroes Who Inspire Change. As always, please ensure your scholar reads every night.

Terrific Third Grade News!
In Social Studies students will begin Chapter 5: Lesson 3 Taking Actions for our rights.
This week in Math, we will be completing topic 12 and taking our topic 12 Assessment. We will also be taking the topics 1-12 Cumulative Assessment on Thursday. On Friday, we will begin topic 13, which is Fraction Equivalence and Comparison.
In Science, scholars are comparing plant and animal life cycles. They are also learning about inherited traits.

Women's History Month (Her Story)
March is Women's History month and we will research an inspiring and influential woman of influence in our society. You will receive a packet that allows you to plan, research, and complete a five paragraph essay that explains how important your person has been to our culture and community.
Regional Spelling Bee Competition Results
Congratulations to Brenden Livingston for making it to the Regional Spelling Bee and making it to round 5 and the top 10 of competition participants! We are incredibly proud of him! He will be featured in the Washington Informer along with the other Spelling Bee participants. Way to go, Brenden! Continue to be your best and do your best in all your endeavors!

Next week is our 5th grade MISA. We are ready to rock this test!

During this engaging and interactive digital lesson, the learners receive direct instruction and practice in keyboarding the letters A, B, C, D, and E as they locate and type the letters, recognize the letter sounds, and learn the relationship between the letters on the keyboard and on the screen.

Keyboarding: Shift Key for Capitals and Symbols
This engaging and interactive digital lesson provides direct instruction and practice in the areas of keying letters to form words, and using the shift key to make capital letters, symbols, and punctuation including exclamation point and question mark.
