Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
It’s difficult to believe that we are at the end of the third quarter! We are certainly looking forward to our spring break beginning next Friday, March 29, 2024.
Please take note of the End of Course Testing Dates that are in the “Upcoming Important Dates” section of this newsletter. In high school, students are required to take these assessments in order to graduate. Our teachers have been working very hard this year to make sure all of our students are ready for this challenge!
Please pay particular attention to four dates: April 16 and 17 and April 23 and 24. On April 16 and 17, the only students required to attend school at the normal start time, 7:25 a.m., are those sophomores and any other student required to take the ELA II assessment. All other BHS students will operate on a delayed start and will report to school at 10:30. All buses will run on a normal schedule so if any students do not have transportation to arrive at the 10:30 delayed start time, they will have a study hall until the official school day begins.

Thank you for helping us stress the importance of these state assessments. We believe they will do well!
Have a great weekend.
In service to our Bulldogs.

2024-25 FAFSA Update:
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2024-25 academic year has undergone many changes, been updated for 2024, and is currently having a "soft launch". The website is up and running, but will be temporarily shut down occasionally for maintenance and updates. Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university. The FAFSA is what determines your eligibility for student loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships - thus, it is VERY important that you complete and submit it. Keep in mind, all students are at least eligible for student loans! We will continue to share information and helpful resources as they are received.
Here is the link to a short video that explains what the FAFSA is: What is FAFSA?
We have also included the link to a slightly lengthier video that explains the entire FAFSA application process and answers many of your questions: The 2024-2025 Financial Aid Process
The student, as well as the parents/guardians must have their own FSA ID to begin the FAFSA application process. Here is the link to create your FSA ID: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch
