#PRONGHORNSTRONG
Congratulations to this group of students who received recognition for being a great example of what is means to be a PVE Pronghorn. These students were caught either modeling a school-wide expectation or showing ownership for their learning. Way to be #PronghornStrong!
TODAY WE CELEBRATE...
OUR TEACHER OF THE YEAR
Mrs. Ariel West, 1st Grade Teacher, was selected by her colleagues and parents to represent the values and leadership of Pleasant View Elementary as the Teacher of the Year for 2024. Mrs. West is a master teacher who champions her students to rise to the highest levels. Her enthusiasm for learning transfers to her students, where they learn to become learning coaches and help one another succeed; in fact, you will find her students offering feedback to one another and working independently to take risks, try hard things, and celebrate successes.
As a colleague, Ariel is always positive and supportive. She is a technology master and a risk-taker in her own right, willingly seeking and trying new instructional strategies to engage her students. Her fun and vibrant personality, love of education, and seeing students succeed make her stand out as a leader in WASD and PVE.
Mrs. West is a true ROCKSTAR at Pleasant View, and we could not be prouder to celebrate her.
OUR CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to Hattie Biehl
THE SILENT TREE
Hattie's artwork submission for the theme "Nature's Beauty" was chosen as the PVE winner for this year's art show competition. She used oil pastels for this piece.
"I love silhouettes, and I love nature, so when we got this topic, I knew exactly what to do! I hope this piece can inspire others to do what art they love." ~Hattie
Thank you to all the staff, students, and parents who helped select our winner.

SCHOOL BUS RIDER IMPORTANT NOTICE!
If your child rides with bus, please ensure you have downloaded the My Ride K-12 application and have push notifications enabled to receive these crucial updates.
We have a new application available for bus notifications! This new application from Traversa has improvements to messaging and tracking. Bus stop/number changes are communicated via push notifications and the messaging center through the My Ride K-12 application. Whenever possible and necessary, this application is also used to send notification of delayed busses. The Ride 360 application can still be used, however messages will only be received as push notifications and not saved within the app.
My Ride K-12 provides secure access to student bus schedule/routing information. My Ride K-12 provides quick access to your child's bus schedule/routing information, which can include the bus stop, route, and bus number. This is accessible on mobile devices, and confidential and secure. This program is free to download and use. Instructions for download can be found on our Transportation Webpage: Transportation | West Ada School District. If you see an issue with your child’s transportation information, please use our HelpDesk ticket system to let us know. Transportation - Jira Service Management (atlassian.net).

New Devices Coming for 5th and 8th Graders
Over the coming weeks, all 5th-grade and 8th-grade students will be receiving a new device that they will take with them over the summer to use for the next few years at middle and high school. To coincide with the deployment of these new devices, we will also be opening early enrollment for Device Protection for the 2024-25 school year on March 1st. Families will be able to log in to the Payment Portal in PowerSchool and purchase Device Protection for $20 instead of $25. This coverage will be effective immediately and run through the summer of 2025. Additionally, please note that as part of the process of checking in these students' older devices, inspections may identify damaged or lost components. Fines resulting from these incidents of damage and loss will start showing up in the Payment Portal, and notification emails will start going out shortly after your 5th or 8th grader receives their new device. For any questions about Optional Device Protection or outstanding balances in our online payment system, Rycor, please send an email to onlinepayments@westada.org, or call our IT Service Desk at 208-350-5300, Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.
"Always-On" Laptop Case Reminder
This year, to cut down on the frequency of device damage, and to further safeguard families from unplanned repair expenses, protective "always-on" cases were purchased for all Lenovo laptops. If your student has one of these devices, we hope you will join us in encouraging them to keep this device on at all times. This case should not be removed for any reason except by a trained staff member. Removing and installing this case can be difficult and may even damage the screen if not done correctly. If you see your child using their blue Lenovo 500W G3 or G4 laptop without its protective case, please have them bring the case and the laptop to their school's library or designated technical support location and have the case be properly, and safely reinstalled. We appreciate your partnership in protecting these devices!
How to Purchase Optional Device Protection (On or after March 1st):
- Login to PowerSchool (https://ps.westada.org/public/)
- Click on the Payment Portal in the left sidebar
- Click on the name of the child you would like to purchase protection for
- Add Early Enrollment Device Protection to your cart.
- Click the cart icon in the upper, right-hand corner.
- Enter payment information and click Submit to complete your purchase.

- No black and white pictures
- No glue or anything 3D on paper

ROARING READERS TIME
Let's gear up for our Roaring Readers Reading Program! If your child reads (outside of school) for the required time and fills out the reading chart (with your guidance), they will receive a free day pass to Roaring Springs Waterpark! In your child's take-home folder, you will find a Roaring Readers Reading Chart & Program Details. To help you find it, it's a yellow-orange piece of paper. The reading charts are optional, but please encourage your child to do this! Fostering reading at home is important and helps your child so much!
During library time this past week, we discussed strategies on how to fill out their charts! Please keep these charts in a safe space. Please sign each time they complete their reading to double-check they have completed their reading for the day. We talked about setting timers to help alleviate the question of what time they started reading. We also have done the math and calculated how many times we would need to sit down and read because 600 minutes sounds intimidating to K-4 and 800 minutes sounds endless to 5th grade!
If you run out of room on the chart, please attach another paper (of any kind), click on the button below for an additional reading chart to print, or ask your child to pick up another reading chart attached to my bulletin board. The reading charts are due back to your classroom teacher by Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Thanks for helping to foster the love of reading at home!

Need To Make A Change In How Your Child Gets Home? Checking Out a Student?
Please get in touch with the office before 3:00 for any last-minute changes at the end of the day, so we have plenty of time to communicate with staff members. (If preplanned, please email both the teacher and office.)
If you are coming in at the end of the day to check out a student, please note we will not call students down after 3:45 pm. They are already cleaning up and transitioning for release at the end of the day.
Thank you for being so understanding!
Please take a moment to look at your child's lunch balance. If you owe monies, please remit payment to help take care of the over $600 in debt owed at PVE. We appreciate you keeping your account current.
