2024 Summer Learning Hub at Waikiki School
Dear Current Waikiki School Families (Kindergarten - 4th Grade),
As we approach the summer months, we understand that many of you are making plans for vacations, summer school, and other activities. We wanted to provide you with an update on our summer program to help you plan accordingly.
This year, we will once again be hosting our Summer Hub Learning Program, just like last year. Please note that this program is exclusively for CURRENT Waikiki School students in Kindergarten through 4th grade.
It's important to mention that this program is federally funded and thus has specific guidelines for participation. Attendance is mandatory for all registered participants, as mandated by the guidelines we must adhere to.
The Summer Hub is structured to equip selected students with the necessary skills to excel in language arts, math, and social-emotional learning. Federal funding requires us to focus on serving our most at-risk learners in these areas.
Student selection for the program will be based on current report card progress and input from their homeroom teachers.
The tentative dates for the Summer Learning Hub are June 3rd to July 3rd, running from 8 am to 12 pm.
Registration will be conducted in two phases. Phase One involves notifying selected students via letter and email around March 8, 2024. These students will have until March 22, 2024, to complete their registration via a Google form, as we anticipate a waitlist. Phase Two registration information will be provided around March 25, 2024, depending on space availability.
Additionally, this summer, we are offering an A+ program from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at a cost to families. Space for the A+ program will be limited due to staffing constraints. Registration details for the A+ program will be included in the registration form.
While many families have expressed interest in our past fee-based Mindful Summer School, we have decided to put that program on hold for this year and focus on the federally funded opportunity.
Thank you for your attention to this update. Should you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
