Celebrate Middleton! Celebrate Middleton!

For the month of April, our newsletter will highlight all of the wonderful things that make our school community special! Each week will celebrate different people, events, or programs at Middleton. We are excited to share with you all of the incredible opportunities that our kids have. This week we are happy to spotlight Middleton as a whole. We are so grateful for our awesome school and our students, staff, and families! On Wednesday, we welcomed our Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade students back to Middleton with a Clap In. I can't put into the words how special it feels to have all of our kids under one roof again. A HUGE thank you to our families for their patience, grace and suppport and to our staff for their hard work and flexibility. It really is great to be a Mustang!

With appreciation,

Mili

This week we also had an all-school assembly with a performance from the Rainbow Dance Company. It was such a great way to way to cap off a special week. Tonight is our Horseshoe Hop Dance and we look forward to seeing you all for some more fun!

Reminder - State Testing Notice Reminder - State Testing Notice

As a reminder, Oregon's Statewide Assessments in science, mathematics, and English language arts will begin later this month for students in grades 3-8.

Scheduled testing will take place during the school day. For additional information on the State Assessments from the Oregon Department of Education, please review the following link.

While no single test can give a complete picture of your child’s progress, statewide tests provide information to students and families, as well as to educators and administrators, about what educational approaches are working and where additional resources are needed. Your child’s participation is important to ensure schools and districts receive the targeted resources they need to help all students succeed. Districts are rated on their participation levels as well as student performance on this exam.

Oregon law (ORS 329.479) permits parents and adult students to annually opt-out of Oregon’s statewide summative tests in English Language Arts and Math by submitting a form to the school the student attends. If you decide to opt your child out of the math and/or ELA state assessments, please submit the following form to your school front office by Friday, April 12 to best support our school with planning for this year's testing schedule:

  • English combined 30-day notice and opt-out form

  • Spanish combined 30-day notice and opt-out form

  • Chinese (Traditional)

  • Chinese (Simplified)

  • Vietnamese

  • Russian

  • German

  • French

  • Tagalog

  • Japanese

  • Korean

  • Arabic

  • Chuukese
