Have you applied/reapplied for Free and Reduced Priced Meals?
Free or reduced-price meals are available to students based on household size and income. If income falls below the amount listed below for household size, then students living within the household may qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Students are automatically eligible for free meals if the family receives assistance under the Food Supplement Program or Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) benefits.
Changes and/or status changes occur every year. This year there will be a price category change as of October 11, 2023. Please be sure to apply or reapply in the event your price category is affected by this change.

Attendance
Please note we have implemented a Google form for submission of absences/late arrivals and notes. This form is the only acceptable method of communication and must be utilized for reporting absences/late arrivals and uploading doctor/medical notes ONLY for your student(s). With the exception of COVID reporting in which an email in addition to the absence form must be sent to Nurse Ann, Dr. Fryson and Mrs. Virgil.

ABSENT NOTE SUBMISSION: Please complete this form within three (3) days once your child returns to instruction. Excused absences cannot be placed into SchoolMax until AFTER the child returns to instruction. Family vacations and trips are not considered excused absences. Refer to the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook for further clarification regarding excused and unexcused absences.

Nurse Ann and the School Health Services strongly recommend wearing a mask and keeping one available in your child's backpack.
Please help yourself and others -- keep your scholars home when they are not well.
Immunizations
Immunizations must be up-to-date and received by the school nurse to prevent exclusion from school.
Medication forms are attached. Please hand carry newly prescribed medication in the pharmacy packaging. Any adult may deliver the medication to the nurse. (appointments must be made)
CMITNES PTO INFORMATION
Upcoming Events
The Double Good Popcorn fundraiser is coming up in March, and CMIT ES PTO is popping with excitement!
Participants will download the Double Good app, and register with our unique Event Code (to be announced). Then you can create and share your scholar's personal pop-up shop with family and friends! Double Good will handle shipping the orders for you!
50% of all proceeds will benefit CMIT ES PTO and there will be great prizes to the top fundraisers!

Kind Kindergarten News!
Hello Kindergarten Families:
ELA: We are reviewing sight words, working on syllables, and creating stories with drawings and labels.
Social Studies: We are finishing up on learning about maps, globes, and neighborhoods.
Math: We completed topic 10 and will be starting topic 11, counting numbers to 100.
Science: We are continuing learning about different life cycles; animals, butterflies, and plants.

Fascinating First Grade News!
Hello First Grade Families:
Welcome to the first week of March! Hopefully spring weather is really around the corner. However, the weather may surprise us, so please continue to bring appropriate outerwear for your scholar. First grade recess begins at 10:20 a.m. each day.
As always, please have your scholar bring a reusable water bottle.
There is no school Monday due to teacher professional development day.
Spring Break begins on March 25-April 1. We will also have an asynchronous day on April 2. Students will receive their asynchronous work on March 22nd.
Look out for an attendance form on April 2, so we may capture your scholar’s attendance.

Spectacular Second Grade News!
We had a wonder week celebrating Black History Month. Next week, we will continue Unit 3, theme Our Traditions. In Math, we will continue Topic 10, Add Within 1,000 Using Models and Strategies Understand Place Value and count by numbers to 1,000. In Science, we will begin topic 5, Plants and Animals. In Social Studies, we will continue chapter 4, producing and consuming goods. As always, please ensure your scholar reads every night.

Terrific Third Grade News!
In Social Studies, students will begin Chapter 5: Lesson 2 Being a good Citizen.
In Math, scholars are continuing to work with fractions as parts of a whole unit. They are also working with fractions as part of number line to represent fractions greater than 1.
In Science, scholars are comparing plant and animal life cycles. They are also learning about inherited traits.

One of our scholars is preparing for the regional championship in hopes to compete in the SCRIPPS competition! Make CMIT proud!
5th Grade Content:

Scholars will continue working on Unit 3 Week 4 by completing their progress check and enter into Week 5 of realistic fiction. Their writing process will continue in opinion writing.
Math
This week in Math we will:
1. Find the volume of rectangular prisms using a formula.
2. Convert measurements.

SS: Students will be starting Chapter: 6 "A New Nation"

Tigers have studio time this week. Classes will primarily consist of independent work to plan and work on their projects before the holidays. Projects include portraits, still life, architecture, and other activities that develop their understanding of shapes and value in 3D images. We will continue to stress planning and craftsmanship.

Keyboarding: Number Row
In this engaging and interactive digital lesson, the learners receive direct instruction and practice with keyboarding techniques needed to type using the number row keys, proper finger placement and posture, and a review of the home, upper, and lower row keys.
