Spartan Spotlight April, 2024
Principal's Message
I hope everyone had a nice spring break. Great things continue to happen in and around Broad Run. Our DECA students are off to International Competition in California, the performing arts spring musical was a huge success, debate students are representing the Spartans in state and national Competition, our Unified Sports Team has been well represented in numerous events, we had several students participate in the science fair, and our spring sports are in the full "swing" on their season. There is always so much going on.
I would like to thank our PTSO outgoing officers: Sejal Patel, Miguel Sian, Jenn Wendling, Twana Black, Tuul Poling, Christi Carmouze, Savitha Seshadri, Megan Zerfas, and our student reps Rachel Keller and Gabriel Sanies. Your work to support the school and the PTSO has been impactful. On behalf of the faculty and staff, thank you! If any parents are interested in being on the PTSO Officer Board, please reach out. We need your involvement. Most importantly, I am sure to attend meetings and be in constant communication with the PTSO board on school matters.
Students in grades 9-11: please be sure your course selections for SY 24-25 are set and accurate. Changes after May 1 will be difficult and potentially may be denied.
Prom is May 3. AP Testing starts May 6, and SOL testing May 20. See information here. Graduation is June 15. Hope to see you at an event soon!

Updated Respiratory Illness Guidance
In accordance with updated respiratory virus guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, LCPS has updated its guidance specifically relating to COVID-19 but also applying to the flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
Per this updated guidance, students or staff who have symptoms of, test positive for or have been diagnosed with a respiratory virus may return to school when they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication AND their symptoms have improved or resolved. The COVID-19 isolation period of five days is no longer required.
Please refer to the chart on this attendance webpage if your child is experiencing symptoms or illnesses and you are unsure if they should go to school.
Thank you for helping to keep our students and staff healthy.
