Pine Street Elementary School
Principals' Update
Hard to believe it is already April! March has flown by, and although the weather has been nice, spring is officially sprung. March was a very busy month with all kinds of great learning activities for both students and staff. On March 1, we had our professional development day, which consisted of Mardi Hardt (our division鈥檚 Mental Health Advisor and Registered Nurse) taking our teachers through trauma based educational practices showing the impact trauma has on brain development. March 7, our grade 3s went to the Ukrainian Village. Our track team participated in the Running Room Indoor Games on March 6 with our boys and girls A groups qualified to race again on the Saturday, March 9 heats. We had the Rocks and Rings curling kits the week of March 11 where students had fun learning how to curl in our gym. March 14, Grade 5 students were off to the TELUS World Of Science. Term 2 Report cards were released and published on the parent portal March 15. Saturday March 16 our grades 5 & 6 basketball teams participated in the BFH basketball tournament. Then spring break started with students and staff returning tomorrow, Tuesday April 2. As you can see, March was an exciting and busy month at our school.
Have a great April. Working together, we are able to do amazing things for our students.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Grade Group Composition at Pine Street
At Pine Street Elementary we strive to do our very best when it comes to meeting the needs of all our students. Our teachers spend a substantial amount of time transitioning with the previous year鈥檚 teachers as we build the class lists for the next school year. As educational professionals we match the needs of students, the dynamics of the classrooms and expertise of our teaching staff in order to build optimal learning environments for our students. Our goal is to build academically successful, socially responsible, and emotional stable classrooms that promote optimal student learning and educational success. We consider and take into account a variety of educational factors that include but are not limited to academic performance, work habits, learning styles, interpersonal/social skills and psychological development. We thank you for working with us, as our professionals with their extensive educational expertise and experience build optimal learning environments for the upcoming school year to maximize your child鈥檚 success for their future.
