Capitol GT Students Present Projects!
The Capitol GT students presented their semester projects to an audience to finish up their semester. Mrs. Utley and Mrs. Alexander #expectexcellence and have been helping GT students research and learn for a high level of accomplishment. The Capitol 4th grade GT students researched their country of origin and created informational displays that included topographical maps and food from that country. Parents and students visited the We Are Texans Museum Exhibit, and students enjoyed tasting the various foods from each country. The 3rd grade GT students have been studying and, as part of their research, ate at food trucks to research and create their own Food Truck Business. They learned about marketing, branding menus, catering, pricing, and more. The 2nd grade GT students put their knowledge of Texas history to work and turned the Texas-themed short story, The Case of the Missing Lone Star, into a fun skit! In their skit, a time bandit had stolen the Lone Star from the Texas flag at the Texas State Capitol Building. These 2nd-grade Texas Time Rangers had to find clues from all over Texas and track down the thief through time. These kids all learned so much! Thank you to Mrs. Alexander and Mrs. Utley for going above and beyond with these students! See more photos at Facebook.com/LevellandISD
LHS Graduate Visits Entrepreneur Class
LHS 2014 Graduate came back to LHS this week to visit with Mr. Hill's Entrepreneur students about a college degree in Business at the TTU Rawls College of Business. She told students the ins and outs of a business degree at TTU which offers many opportunities for students, including studying abroad to finish up a TTU degree. She explained that the Rawls College of Business is like its own family with help for students in every matter including a therapist for tough times, scholarships, organizations and friendships, and more. Thank you, Mr. Hill, for offering so many opportunities to your students! Thank you, Miss Contreras, for coming back to LHS to make a difference!
South Christmas Program!
South Elementary third graders performed their annual Christmas program last week, singing a variety of Christmas carols. They were delightful and put you in the Christmas spirit. Thank you, Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Soliz for always teaching South students the best music moves every single day! Great job kids!
Cocoa & Campfires
Capitol Elementary brought the most food items in the LISD Bill's BackPack Food Drive Challenge earlier this month. Capitol students brought granola bars, while other campuses were responsible for pop tarts, oatmeal, ramen noodles, and PB crackers. Every Capitol student was treated to a Capitol Cocoa and Campfire Treat! And thank goodness they celebrated before the weather turned cold! Great job Capitol Kids!
Choir Goes Caroling!
Our LMS Choir students and LMS Choir Director Josh Ballard were caught all over town this week caroling and bringing Christmas cheer to everyone! All LMS choirs sang many Christmas carols to make spirits bright! Thank you, kids. You did a beautiful job!
TTU Educational Game Day
Students from South and Capitol attended the Texas Tech Girl's Basketball Game last week for their Educational Game Day! A great time was had by all! Students got to be "loud" and let off some steam, but they also learned what it's like to be a Texas Tech Red Raider! They might just pick TTU after high school!
Writing & Reading
These LMS students were caught using their writing and reading skills last week in Ms. Edwards' Reading class. They were in the Christmas spirit and were making Christmas cards for nursing home residents. Ms. Edwards will deliver the cards for them to make lots of people merry and bright! We love that our students care for others.
Cozy Winter Day
Capitol kids enjoyed Cozy Winter Day (and the day really fit) on Friday by wearing cozy socks and donating a pair of cozy socks to be donated to our local senior citizens. Thank you, Capitol kids, for giving back during this holiday season!
YELL Students Serve Others
Our LHS YELL (Young Emerging Leaders of Levelland) completed their November and December community service projects. They collected food for the LEAP blessing boxes and toy donations for Love Levelland! Great job YELL kids! Our next meeting is January 17th, 2024!

Congratulations to two of our Levelland FFA members Mark Buxkemper and Max Vergara! They received a scholarship from the Christmas Cash Classic show over the weekend! Great job guys!
Jingle Jog!
Remember the Turkey Trot in November? Well, Capitol PE teacher Mrs. Kristy Sanders held races in PE and winning classes ran a Jingle Jog down the hallway! The students always hear, "No running in the hall," so they thought they were really doing something! That's funny! https://www.facebook.com/CapitolElementary/videos/788533666369267
