A Note From Dr. Hooks
Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,
Due to the rainy weather on Wednesday morning, the 5th grade students are now slated to join their peers from other DC Public Schools in presenting various historical speeches and songs on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, on March 6, 2024 at 10:30am. Additionally, I will have the honor of providing opening remarks on behalf of DCPS. Over the years, this opportunity has proven to be a transformative experience for many of our students and families, especially those who embrace the significance of such an experience. Feel free to join us, if your availability allows.
As always, please feel free to email hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov, with any school specific inquiries.
Kindest Regards,
Dr. Calvin Hooks, Principal
Hyde-Addison Elementary School

2023 DC School Report Card
“The 2023 DC School Report Card is built on OSSE’s amended ESSA State Plan, which increases the school accountability system’s emphasis on student growth and marginalized student groups. The school accountability system will also see returning metrics that were not available during the coronavirus (COVID-19) health emergency such as ACCESS growth and student growth on the math and ELA assessments, as well as introduce new metrics such as high school student growth, five-year graduation rate and AP/IB/Dual Enrollment participation.”
In short, the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) has released the 2023 DC School Report Card, which scores and rates schools in various areas, including academic achievement, academic growth, attendance and enrollment.
Based on this data, Hyde-Addison ES was ranked #2 for all DCPS Elementary Schools.
