GMS Information and Announcements
PIC OF THE WEEK:
From the Principal's Desk
We hope everyone had an amazing spring break. Whether you traveled, had a staycation, or even just rested and relaxed we all deserved a good break. This time of year is 100mph and will be packed daily with fun classroom projects, test reviews, sports, performances, practices, and everything else in between. Remember to prioritize what's important and do your best in all that you do.
We are proud of you.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE MAIN OFFICE
Many of you saw the beginning of some exciting work and changes to our main office that began on Friday before break.
This is now our temporary office space for the next few weeks:
Mrs. Ricker will now be the only one in the main office, along with the help of Lt. White and Officer Moore.
What does this mean?
It means we will be running everything like normal, but we need to remember to be patient and understand the office is an active construction zone.
The phones will still work, but it might be loud and Mrs. Ricker needs to let it ring to send back to Mrs. Stephens or Mrs. Bowers so we can take your call.
If your student is late and has to wait on a tardy slip, we will take care of that as quickly as possible, but it's best to be on time because we will not have room for all the students in the waiting area.
Need to drop something off? Use the table in the foyer and we will get it to your student ASAP.
Your student is sick? The nurses office will run like normal and Nurse Megan will walk your student out to you in the foyer.
Have a scheduled meeting? All meetings are on a normal schedule, but we might ask you to wait in the foyer or in the commons due to space.
We can't wait for the safety upgrades, new office spaces, and a centralized place for our staff at GMS. We appreciate you understanding and know we are all working as hard as possible to keep everything running at the high standard we all expect at GMS.
Congratulations to our 24-25 Cheer and Dance Teams!

Synergizing
I really appreciate Ms. Skelly being willing to let us swing by and pick up a study guide Harper thought she left at school. We ended up reprinting it but I appreciate her willingness to go the extra mile to help us build success! :)
Do You Have A GMS Shout-Out to Share?
GMS is full of amazing people and we would love to hear your stories of how a GMS staff member is making a difference for your student! Did your student talk about a cool lesson or activity? Does your student come home talking about a favorite coach or teacher? If so, click the link above to share some love and fill out the GMS Staff Shout-Out Form!
GRADES and POWERSCHOOL REMINDER
- ALL missing assignments will be entered as a "0," so the missing assignment is accurately reflected in the students' overall grade. This includes missing assignments from absences.
- This does not mean they will not be able to make up their work, but simplifies the process of knowing what is missing and what is not from any absence or lack of completing an assignment.
- It is your student's responsibility to check Canvas and talk with their teacher about missing work when absent.
- All teachers will update grades weekly for on time assignments with late assignments updated within the next week.
- If you do not see grades for your student on a weekly basis, please let a GMS Administrator know.
- If you need help with PowerSchool, email Danielle Stephens, stephensd@gcschools.net and she will assist you.
GMS SPRING SPORTS
As we begin to start our spring sport seasons, information will be updated on our website, social media, and here each week. Sign-ups are currently posted on the bulletin board in the 8th grade locker area.
Afternoon Car Rider Pick-Up
In order to streamline and ensure the safety of our afternoon car rider pick-up process, we kindly remind all parents that every car rider must possess a CarRiderPro tag. This tag is crucial as it is automatically scanned upon entry into the car line, allowing the names of students to populate on a list visible within classrooms. Please be informed that students are not dismissed from their classrooms until their name appears on the CarRiderPro list. Additionally, to prioritize the safety of our students and staff and to comply with state law, we remind drivers that cell phone use is not permitted in the carline; therefore, please refrain from texting students while in the carline.
In addition, we've made acquiring replacement or additional CarRiderPro tags convenient for all families. These tags can be purchased for $5 through our school website. Simply click on the "Parents" tab and select the online store option. Once purchased, tags can be picked up by a parent or guardian at the school office the following day. Thank you for your cooperation in utilizing these tags to streamline our car pick-up process and uphold safety standards for our school.
