Puzzles and Prizes Protocol
An organized unstructured conversation
This protocol supports sharing and reflecting on puzzles and/or insights about practice.
Silent Reflection
Begin by asking participants to spend 3-5 minutes in silent reflection. Participants should consider:
- Puzzles of Practice - a knot, a wonder, something that they are grappling with in their practice.
- Prizes of Practice - a take-away, a break through that they hope to apply in their practice.
Participants may wish to jot down quick notes.
Sharing
Gather participants in groups of 3 or 4. In these groups, each participant should share in 1 or 2 sentences either a puzzle or a prize. Participants then spend the remainder of 10 minutes in unstructured conversation about what has been shared. Participants should feel free to add on, build onto, give feedback, make connections, and wonder during this conversation.
Silent Reflection
Participants end this protocol in 3-5 minutes of silent reflection. Participants might reflect on:
- New puzzles and prizes
- How their puzzles and prizes have changed
- Feedback for taking their puzzles and prizes forward
*This protocol was created in PZC Study Group B in July 2016 to help facilitate a desire for connecting with each other and learning about what's popping up for us during this week of learning.
