Vikings perform, Vikings inspire
Dear Families,
There are so many celebrations to share with you in this newsletter, and so many inspiring things happening at NBAPS! Over the last month students have stretched themselves and accomplished so many great things. It was so wonderful to see so many in attendance at the We Are All the Same Sock Hop and at the Sunrise concerts at the end of February.
More fun is on the way! We are again hosting a Walk and Roll to School event on May 8, and the high school is presenting Sister Act - A Divine Musical Comedy May 2-5.
The high school is looking for members of our district family to participate in its Future Forward Career Day event coming up quickly on April 11. See that opportunity and much more news and information below, and have a great spring!
SKOL! Vikings!

Early Learners had a fun month
Early Learning students were so busy in the days leading up to spring break! They enjoyed a visit from Taher Chef Tony Menk on Feb. 29, and celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday with readings from Papa Charley and costumes on March 4-5. "Fun is good!" - Dr. Seuss

Community Service Day - Thursday May 23
NBAPS annual Community Service Day is scheduled for Thursday, May 23. Staff and students will be out in our communities performing a variety of community service projects. Website/App tech tips
Family survey respondents indicated a need for more guidance in using the district’s new website/app. Community Relations Coordinator Pat Tepoorten has created a series of short “how to” articles for both the website and the app, covering a variety of topics. To view, click here and scroll down the main page. Contact ptepoorten@isd138.org if you have suggestions for further help articles.
Access to educational benefits beyond free meals
As the State is currently paying for free breakfast and lunch, there are some families missing out on other educational benefits. Filling out the Application for Educational Benefits is required in order to access other benefits like reduced fees at school. You can access educational benefits by completing the form here or through your WordWare lunch account. If you need assistance, please contact Arle Chambers at 651-674-1011 or achambers@isd138.org.

Learning to weave at NBAMS
Sixth graders are learning how to weave with paper in art class. Students were challenged to make a new paper loom that is a specific shape, going beyond the traditional rectangle or square. Their personalities, creativity and problem-solving skills were on full display with their gorgeous creations!
