Spring Break

• No school from March 11th to March 15th for Spring Break!

Orchestra students attended Pre-UIL at the beginning of February to prepare for this year's UIL Competition! Students performed their pieces on stage, sightread new music, and received helpful advice from other FriscoISD orchestra directors.

Orchestra officers celebrated Valentine's Day with a Secret Valentines exchange! Officers received amazing gifts from each other and enjoyed some delicious treats!

This month, pods competed against each other in a very competitive and exciting trivia game! Pods joined together to play Scattergories for a chance to increase their ranking in this year's Pod Competition!

Students in Concert, Philharmonic, Sinfonia, and Symphonic orchestra participated in 2024's UIL Competition! These outstanding musicians showed off their musical skill on stage and in the sightreading room. We're super proud of everyone's dedication and participation over the last few weeks! Good luck to Camerata in their UIL Competition next week!

This month, Liberty's Youth and Government Team attended their State competition! Our very own Sankeertana Malakapalli was named Hyde House Distinguished Delegate. Congratulations to Sankeertana and her amazing accomplishment!

Liberty's UIL Math Team competed in Prosper this month and our orchestra students did amazing! In the Number Sense category, Max Yin placed second place out of 137 competitors and placed 7th place out of 177 competitors in the Math Results category. In the Calculator category, Jian Park placed 33rd out of 160 competitors. We're super proud of everyone who participated! Great work!

In this year's Regional VASE Art Competition our very own, Yejin Choi, received the highest score available for her art pieces! We're amazed by her artistic ability, congrats to Yejin!

The Science UIL Team also competed in Prosper this weekend and placed 3rd place overall! We're very proud of our orchestra students who competed! Here are the orchestra members that placed in the competition:

• Isha Banerjee - ranked 40 out of 127
• Sraddha Pedaprolu - ranked 46 out of 127
• Paolo Manlapaz - ranked 47 out of 127

Congratulations to Sraddha Pedaprolu for qualifying for HOSA State! We're extremely proud of you and your hard work!

In 5A District Competition last week, out of the 36 personal best times that members of the team achieved that day, many of those swimmers were orchestra members. Out of the 16 swims that qualified for the 5A Regional meet, 6 of those swims included orchestra members:

• Girls 200 Medley Relay - Samantha Njau placed 3rd
• Boys 200 Medley Relay - Derek Hinz placed 4th
• Boys 200 Freestyle Relay - Derek Hinz placed 3rd
• Girls 200 Freestyle Relay - Avishi Singh placed 4th
• Boys 400 Freestyle Relay - Will Whitehouse and Ethan Liu placed 5th
• Girls 400 Freestyle Relay - Avishi Singh and Samantha Njau placed 5th

These orchestra members also achieved their personal bests at the meet:

• Sanika Colluru earned a PB in the 200 IM and 100 Breast
• Will Whitehouse earned a PB in 200 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle
• Mathias Wong earned a PB in 100 Breast

Liberty's Red Rhythm team became Grand Champions this month in the 2024 Crowd Pleasers Dance Regional Showcase! Orchestra members, Eliza Archaga, Harriet Archaga, and Asiah Calahan showcased their amazing dancing ability and brought home a win! Congratulations to our orchestra dancers!

Our very own Avishi Singh and Samantha Naju represented Liberty at the State Meet last weekend! Great job to our spectacular swimmers!

Celia Wu placed 3rd place and Krish Jayanth placed 2nd at their Tennis Tournament on February 1st! Congrats to Celia and Krish for their amazing accomplishment!

Mackenzie Raymond placed 3rd in high jump at her track meet on February 23rd! We're super proud of Mackenize and her impressive abilities!

Congratulations to Tarun Tornala, Tyler Mannis, Minseok Kim, and Garv Choudhary, our JV Soccer Players, for winning their big game against Heritage!
