Principal's Message

Dear Vista Families,


Thank you for your support of McTeacher Night. The lobby was full of Vista Families. As of now, we do not have the exact amount of funds earned, however, we were informed that we've earned at least $800.00! Way to go, Vikings!


We have several upcoming events, two of which are this week. Paper fliers were sent home last week. It is Autism Acceptance Week next week. Don't forget to wear wild hair or a silly hat on Monday to highlight magnificent minds. In addition, we are beginning our Penny Wars which will be held before and after school. Which will be the winning classroom with the most points? Which classroom will be sabotaged the most? Don't miss out as this is tons of fun and a great way to help raise PFA funds!

Sycamore and Vista are teaming up again to bring you a fun family event. We hope you can join us for some outdoor activites, plant sale, and learn about outdoor science with our special guests.⠀

What is OSS? (Outdoor Science School)⠀
When will your student attend? (supports sixth grade camp experience)
Where do they go? (Three Oaks, just south of Lake Arrowhead)
What will they do? (Camp experience aligns with Next Generation Science Standards-NGSS)

In addition to this all grade fun morning, come get information on what OSS is and the fun your students will have! ⠀

Just a reminder that Excused Absences due to personal reasons are as listed below. Reasons other than those listed are considered unexecused absences. This is a mandate by the State of California.


  1. Family funeral
  2. Appearances in court
  3. Holiday or ceremony of student’s religion or culture
  4. Family emergency (verifiable)


When you leave a message on the attendance line, please clarify the reason. Thank you for bringing your child to school everyday.

iPad Insurance

During the first week of school, teachers will send out an iPad check out form. Please be sure to return this form as soon as possible. iPads will not be sent home until this form is returned to your classroom teacher. Enclosed is the iPad insurance form. For a nominal fee, you can insure your child's iPad for the entire school year.
