Reporting Incidents and What Parents Can Do
- Reach out to the teacher to inform them of the issue.
- Reach out to the counselor to inform her of the issue and that you'd like her to visit with your child.
- Reach out to an administrator so that they can look into the issue.
- Make a report through StayALERT. There is a button that is a direct link to the StayALERT site on the weekly newsletters, there is a poster at the entrance to the school with a QR code, & there are magnets in the office that you can take home with QR codes for easy access.
Once a parent has reached out about an incident, the matter is looked into, and evidence is gathered. Once all evidence is collected, appropriate actions are taken. If there is evidence that the accused student committed the act, then disciplinary consequences are handed out. If there is not evidence, then actions can still be taken to ensure that there isn't an occurrence of the issue in the future. If the evidence indicates that a student was falsely accused, then actions can be taken against the accuser. The school will act to ensure the safety of both students regardless of the outcome of the investigation.
If parents need assistance with getting resources to help themselves, or their child, please reach out to the one of the following so that they may help guide you:
- Olga Dimas - Elementary School Counselor: olga.dimas@blancoisd.org
- Kat Staas - Student Wellness Assistant: kat.staas@blancoisd.org
- Amber Corder - LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker): amber.corder@blancoisd.org
If you, or someone you know needs assistance, you may always call the school's office to have them direct you to the right person.
Garden Shade
We are so grateful for the wonderful shade in the garden area that was paid for by PTO. We've been waiting for some warmer weather to get a chance to use it and the weather finally cooperated with us. I'm sure that we'll be getting a lot more use out of it as move on towards the end of the year.
New Gym
The gym has officially been turned over to us and we are looking forward to moving our classes over there starting Wednesday. Coach Campbell is excited to use the new facility and we know that our students will love it.
STAAR Testing
We will be conducting STAAR testing on our campus over the course of the next 3 weeks. The schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday, April 16 - RLA (3rd, 4th, & 5th grades)
- Tuesday, April 23 - Science (5th grade)
- Tuesday, April 30 - Math (3rd, 4th, & 5th grades)
The students have all day to take each of the tests. Due to testing security, no parents will be allowed on campus on these days. Should your child miss the actual day of testing, they will be able to make it up when they return.
We ask that you please make sure that your child gets a good night's sleep before the day of testing and that they eat a good breakfast the day of testing. Doing these things can go a long way to help your child be successful.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school.
