Boerne ISD Board Report

The Boerne ISD Board of Trustees held their regular monthly meeting in the BISD Board Room on Monday, February 26, 2024.

This month's Board meeting included:

• Reports to the Board
• Commendations
• Student Limelight Recipient
• New Director of Transportation

The Board heard the following reports and/or updates from District Administration

• The Teaching and Learning Department provided the Board the BISD Annual Report, which included TAPR, financial reports, accreditation, district and campus performance objectives, and more.
• Teaching and Learning also provided to the Board a Progress Monitoring Report regarding Mid-Year Testing.
• The Board was presented with the annual Special Education report which detailed the current program enrollment, as well as the variety of community partnerships our students are offered.

The Board also:

• Approved an order to delegate authority to District Administration to carry the third sale of bonds from the 2022 BISD Bond
• Approved the monthly personnel report
• Approved the monthly purchasing report
• Approved the monthly financial report

Boerne ISD Athletic Director Stan Leech updated the Board on the success and mission of the Game Day with Coach Stephen Mackey.

Coach Leech was joined by Fabra 5th grader Samuel McGee, who discussed how Coach Mackey works with our elementary students on their leadership skills.

Boerne ISD has named the Student Limelight Recipient for February.

Congratulations to Kendall Elementary 5th grader Mackenzie Clark!

We are proud of her!

• BISD will debut a Real Estate CTE Pathway in 2024-25 and already has over 50 students signed up.

• PTECH Health Science accepted over 200 students in the inaugural class, while the Cyber Security pathway accepted 67 students.

• We have 34 elementary teachers, instructional coaches, and an administrator completing their 2nd year of Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS). We thank this group for their commitment of over 30 hours of learning in the Science of Teaching Reading.

• BISD hosted a student-led Fine Arts Showcase for incoming 6th-graders to learn more about available programs.

• Our students continue to achieve at a high level: BMSN and VES placed 2nd and 3rd at a One Act Play contest, the Boerne Girls Swim Team and Champion Girls Swim team each earned a State Bronze Medal, and the Boerne Girls Basketball Team will compete in the State Semifinals on Friday.
