Next week our students in grades 4 & 5 will begin state testing (grade 3 will test the following week). Students in grades 3-5 take state assessments as part of their end of the year requirements. Although a lot of weight is placed on these assessments, we ask only one thing of our students: Do your best. That is all anyone can ask of them and we want to encourage and motivate them so that this is not a time of stress or anxiety.

Students in 3rd - 5th grade take the following tests:

3rd: School Climate Survey, Reading, Math

4th: School Climate Survey, Reading, Math, Science

5th: School climate Survey, Reading, Math, Social Studies, Writing

We encourage all students to be at school each day. If your child must miss a day, they will be provided an opportunity to take the test as a makeup. For individual grade testing schedules, watch for updates from your child's teacher.

PTA Meeting Monday, April 29th at 4:30pm in the library. PTA needs all members that can attend to come so they can review and approve bylaws. Anyone who is interested in joining the PTA or or volunteering through PTA is encouraged to attend. They would love some fresh faces as plans begin for next school year!

Fewer than half of our students are registered for next school year! Get this completed today so that we can begin rolling their information over to place them on a class list!

The Bucket Brigade is returning to raise money for the Crusade for Children! Beginning Tuesday, each classroom will have a bucket in the room to collect your coins and bills. All money raised is given to the Lebanon Junction Fire Department to include with their Crusade for Children donations. The LJ Fire Dept. will sponsor a pizza party for two classes who raise the most money and will spend some time with those classes during the celebration.

So bring in your couch money, your spare change, your extra bills, or any money you want to donate to a great cause. The Crusade for Children makes life better for children with special needs and we at LJES love to do our part.

We will collect money for 2 weeks with all buckets being collected Thursday, May 2nd.

As we approach the end of the school year, we want to keep you up-to-date on events so you can mark your calendars. Be sure to watch for communication from your child's teacher for specifics about these events or for additional events that may be happening in their class.

As a reminder, students who are checked out before the end of the day will not count as an excused absence.

The end of the year is quickly approaching...and that means field day! This year, students may purchase a shirt for field day. Every grade has a unique T-Shirt color and every grade has a unique student designed graphic on the front of each T-Shirt. A portion of the sale of each shirt sold will go to the purchase of new P.E. equipment and supplies. The live store is at the link below.
