Mill Valley Weekly
March 14th, 2024
Hello Mill Valley Families,
Soon, we will begin to look at class placement for our students next year. Teacher teams will begin to plan for 2024-25 class rosters in April and May. When preparing classroom placements for next year, our staff carefully considers the match of student and teacher and the blend of students within a room. A process is used so that classrooms of the same grade are heterogeneous and balanced academically and socially. As we begin to construct class lists for next year, Mill Valley staff will consider many factors including parent/guardian input on learning needs and styles.
We appreciate input from parents as we begin this process and encourage you to fill out the Student Profile Survey. This form will only be available until Friday, March 22nd. Please note that in order to make balanced class lists, we cannot accept teacher requests nor assume your family will have the same teacher you may have worked with previously.

The NED Show
Today, we had The NED Show here at Mill Valley! It is an interactive, 45-minute all-school performance. They used storytelling, yo-yo tricks, humor and audience participation to simplify big ideas about behavior and character education, presenting them in a way children understand and remember.
Students Learned:
· The meaning of NED’s name – Never Give Up, Encourage Others, Do your Best
· Our words and actions matter… You can be a buddy, not a bully
· There is a Champion in EACH of us

What's happening in Phy Ed?
Kindergarten & 1st Grade:
Our younger grades got the chance to try bowling! It was a great opportunity to try something new and different in the gym. After bowling they got to work with the scooters while playing different spatial awareness tagging games. Soon they will be participating in fun St. Patrick's Day games!
2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade:
These grade levels also got the opportunity to try bowling. We talked about correct form and bowling vocabulary such as strike and spare. Students got the chance to win a special prize if they got a strike! We are currently in our basketball unit, which we will be doing up until spring break. We have worked on dribbling, passing, and shooting in basketball. Next week students will get the chance to put all those skills together in mini basketball games.

Course requests during the Priority Registration period are not time stamped. It is not first come, first served.

2024-25 Incoming 4K Student and Caregiver Open House
Please join us on April 4th anytime between 5:30-7:00 PM at Bay Lane Elementary. When you arrive, be sure to grab a Student Bingo Card that will lead you and your child through our 4K classrooms. During the open house, students and caregivers will have an opportunity to learn more about math, literacy, writing, fine motor, school readiness and social skills. It should take approximately 30-45 minutes to visit all the planned activities. There will be classroom teachers and administrators available to provide information and answer general questions you might have. More information regarding 4K and registration can be found on our district website.
