Did you know that Akron School has had nine Boettcher Scholarship winners? The Boettcher Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship for Colorado high school seniors that is awarded in partnership with our state’s four year, nonprofit institutions of higher education. A Boettcher applicant must demonstrate superior scholastic ability/intellectual curiosity, leadership, service, character, and more. The panel cares deeply about lived experience and the context in which a student has thrived as a leader, either because of or in spite of personal circumstances. Winners of the Boettcher are awarded a four year full expenses paid scholarship to any university in Colorado.
Our current 10th and 11th grade Rams and their parents attended their 2024 - 25 school year orientation. A big thank you to Mrs. Weers and Mrs. Houston for their presentation and the opportunities they are providing for our students.

Akron FFA Competes at District Contest
Akron FFA students participated in more District contests Wednesday. We had two Quiz Bowl teams, a Food Science team, and an Employment Skills candidate. Congratulations to Brock Swedlund on his accomplishments in Employment Skills. He will go on to represent the District at State Convention in June. Also, congratulations to Sierra Brown and Wesley Lewis on receiving District Office positions for the following year.
The middle school track team hosted their second track meet this year. The young runners continue to gain experience and keep improving their times. They will travel to Holyoke on Friday to compete.
The lady Rams had the opportunity to learn and grow on Monday at their golf tournament in Fort Morgan. McKenzie Fincher shot a 109, Molly Porteus shot a 111, Kashlee Randel shot a 126 and Zaya Wells shot a 139.
