Science Research Activities
Mrs. Wyrick's Science Research students have had a successful few days! They attended the MJAS state competition in St. Joseph, where they all brought home ribbons. Mrs. Wyrick was honored with the Middle School Science Teacher of the Year and she received a $300 award for the program. On Wednesday, they presented their projects at the capital and were visited by Rep. Don Mayhew and Sen. Mike Bernskoetter. We are so proud of all of these students!
Are you interested in becoming a substitute teacher?
If you are interested in becoming a substitute teacher and you do not have the required 36 college hours, you can do an online course that will allow you to get a substitute certificate. Here is the link to that course, and here is the link to the DESE web page that gives you more information about what you need to do to get a substitute certification. Our daily rate for subs for the 2024-25 school year will be $100/day!
Come join us next Saturday night! It's going to be a great show!
Changes on our Board of Education
At the April board meeting, we honored Debra Rogers for her 9 years of dedicated service to our students and community serving on our Board of Education. We also swore in new board member Joshua McGowin and returning board member Wendy Rains. Nathanial Boggs was elected as President, Wendy Rains as Vice President, and Gayla Luttrell as Secretary/Treasurer. We sincerely appreciate our board for the work they do for our district!
Principal's Corner
Dear Parents and Community Members,
Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a wonderful week. I can’t believe it, but we are down to 15 school days left in the school year! I’m sure students have been counting down for a while, but the end of the school year is right around the corner.
Next week we begin MAP testing for students in grades 3-8, and we want to ensure that your child feels confident and prepared for this assessment. To support your child in achieving their best results, we have compiled some helpful tips for you to implement at home:
Emphasize the Importance of Sleep and Nutrition:
Ensure your child gets enough sleep leading up to the test. A well-rested mind performs better academically.
Provide nutritious meals and snacks to fuel their brain
Foster a Positive Attitude:
Emphasize the importance of a positive mindset. Encourage your child to believe in their abilities and remain confident throughout the test.
Remind them that mistakes are a natural part of learning and growth, and encourage them to approach challenges with resilience.
Provide Encouragement and Support:
Offer words of encouragement and support to alleviate any test-related anxiety your child may experience.
Celebrate their efforts and progress, regardless of the outcome, to instill a sense of accomplishment and motivation.
By implementing these strategies and providing ongoing support, you can help your child feel prepared and confident as they approach the MAP test. Together, we can ensure that they have the tools and mindset needed to excel academically.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out. My door is always open and I am always willing to help however I can.
Sincerely,
Kyla Kirtley
