We are the MIDDLE
WMS Demons
From Mrs. Kennedy
We love when family members or friends want to take one of our students out of school for lunch. We know how important those connections are and special time spent together. There are times adults forget that WMS is responsible for students when they leave during the school day. We know our students are growing older and have more independence. With that said, we need to ensure the safety of all our students.
In our WMS Student Handbook, the procedures for students to leave during lunch or the school day to an adult other than their parent/guardian requires prior written permission from the students' parent/guardian. Written permission can be in the form of a note sent to school with the student or an email.
Thank you for understanding we have this process in place to help ensure the safe of our students.
With gratitude,
Katy Kennedy
Principal
Washington Middle School
March Madness is Here- Spirit Dress-Up Day Thursday
Can you believe it? March Madness is HERE! To celebrate, we are having a WMS Demon Spirit Dress Up day on Thursday, March 21. Thursday is the tip-off to the First Round. All are encouraged to wear their favorite basketball team gear! The three top homerooms with the highest participation percentage might not bring home the National Title trophy, but they will win a prize/treat from Mrs. Kennedy!
BCBS Care Van is Coming to WMS Wednesday, April 24th
Dear Parents or Guardians of Sixth Grade Students,
The Montana State Board of Health has a vaccine requirement for all seventh grade students. All seventh grade students must show proof of having received one dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine before attendance is allowed. Parents may complete an immunization exemption form for valid medical or religious concerns. These forms may be requested from the school.
Tdap vaccine is considered a booster to the DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis) vaccine that is required for Kindergarten entry. Tdap vaccine provides continued protection to students from three diseases: tetanus (lockjaw), diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough). All of these diseases can have very serious consequences.
The BlueCross BlueShield Care Van® will visit Washington Middle School on Wednesday, April 24th, from 0730 -0900. Personal pan pizza certificates will be issued to all participants. This mobile clinic is a community service effort by BlueCross BlueShield of Montana. Staff from the Dawson County Health Department will offer immunizations only to students whose parents complete the enclosed documents. Students who are eligible may receive free vaccines. Please call the Dawson County Health Department (406-377-5213) with any questions or concerns.
Two other vaccines are also recommended for all adolescents at 11-12 years of age: meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) and human papillomavirus vaccine (HPV). Although neither of these vaccines are required for school entry, both will be available during the clinic. You are encouraged to ask your doctor or healthcare provider about these vaccinations.
Here is the Tdap Parent Eligibility and Consent form. Please send this completed form with your student. If you would like a printed copy sent home with your student, please contact our Main Office.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students healthy.
