Intermediate Newsletter

We would like to recognize some of the military’s unsung heroes - the military children! We wear purple because it is the official color of the military child, representing all branches of the military. Today we celebrate our military children and applaud them for overcoming many unique challenges!

Last week, the classes of Mrs. Prater, Mrs. Bullard, and Mrs. A. Rodriguez enjoyed a lunch picnic outside sprinkled with extra recess! They exhibited great cafeteria behavior and were awarded the Golden Platter!

The MCEC Call for the Arts program invites military-connected children from all over the world, representing every branch of service, to share interpretations through art of what it means to be a military-connected child. 2024 Call for the Arts submissions are accepted through April 30th. Parents, it's time to buy your 1st Day School Supplies. I know it seems early, but before you know it, summer will be here. It's important you order your supplies before it's too late or supplies run out. Start the school year with the exact supplies your teacher requested, and give your child the confidence they need to conquer next year! Get them today before it's too late!

La Vernia Intermediate offers several before school and after school clubs. Students have received information during campus announcements regarding signing up for clubs, where to find applications, and reminders to turn in applications. More clubs/UIL information will come out as it becomes available. We appreciate our teachers and staff volunteering their time to enrich our students!

Please don't discard your CarRider Pro car tag! Your family tag will work next year for returning students or incoming third graders with siblings already attending LV Intermediate.

If you lose your initial family tag issued in 2022-2023, you will need to purchase an additional tag for $5 for the 2023-2024 school year.

Incoming third graders with no siblings at the Intermediate and "new to LV" students will receive their first car tag at no charge.

All PTO meetings are held at 8:15. Please join our fabulous group of volunteers who make a HUGE contribution to our campus. We look forward to another amazing year!

If you have questions, concerns, etc., regarding your child's class, we encourage you to contact the classroom teacher first to conference. If there are unresolved concerns, please contact administration or campus counselor. Thank you!

Campus Expectations

1. Attendance

1. Please come to school everyday!

2. If you are absent, please be sure to bring in a note the day you return to school.

3. Tardies - If you are tardy, your parent must walk you into the office and sign you in.

2. Discipline

1. Be respectful and polite around the school (discuss what that looks like).

2. Misbehavior will be noted on calendars - could result in dhall, Saturday dhall…

3. The bus is an extension of the classroom. The same rules students follow at school apply to the bus. Misbehavior on the bus can result in a bus referral.

4. The campus restrooms are also an extension of the classroom. Get in, do your business, flush, wash your hands, throw the paper towel in the trash, and exit. Misbehavior in the bathroom can result in a referral and a visit to the office.

3. Dress Code

1. Hair needs to be kept neat and groomed. No unnatural hair color (green, blue, striped, etc.).

2. Half-shirts, crop tops, spaghetti straps, strapless shirts, razor-back shirts are not allowed.

3. Shorts and skirts should not be shorter than mid-thigh.

4. Hats, caps, or ski caps are not allowed to be worn (except with approval for special events).

4. School Clubs

1. Be on the lookout for information about school clubs on campus.

2. Garden club, Scrabble club, Spanish club, Ukulele club, GOOGLE club, art club, UIL, etc…

We also encourage you to join our campus Facebook page (La Vernia Intermediate School and La Vernia Intermediate PTO) and Remind (text @lvinter to 81010) for quick reminders and updates. A bi-monthly campus newsletter will be sent out via email which will include upcoming events and campus highlights. Please make sure your email address is up-to-date in our records. Your child’s homeroom teacher will also provide you with specific information regarding classroom and teacher communication. Parent portal access is a great tool to help you monitor your child’s grades and attendance. Once again, thank you for your partnership as we take on another great school year together!

Assessments have begun for students to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the TEKS presented in class. Since these assessments are generally taken online, the way parents review the tests have changed. Please review the information below to learn how to access your child's assessments in Eduphoria.
