Head Teacher's Message
GCSE examinations began this week with our Modern Languages Oral exams taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by the Drama Practical assessments today (Friday). Those students involved represented themselves exceptionally well and we congratulate them on their hard work and endeavours. The first full cohort written exam is on Friday 10 May - only 9 school days away. As a reward and break from study and revising, the whole year cohort are off to Ninja Warriors Activity on Tuesday to have some well-deserved downtime and to step away from the pressure for a short while.
Thank you to those Year 8 parents who were able to join us on Wednesday for parent consultations, it was a busy evening, and it was lovely to see so many of you. This Wednesday we look forward to welcoming Year 7 parents.
Wishing you all a restful weekend.
~Ms K Dooley | Head Teacher
Excellence through Endeavour
Design Technology
Congratulations to 44 Year 9 students, under the guidance and encouragement of Mr Lad, who have all been awarded a Bronze CREST Award for Designing a games controller.
Bronze Crest Awards introduce students to project work empowering them to work like real scientists, technologists, engineers or mathematicians. Students choose their own topic and methodologies, giving them complete freedom over their work.
Congratulations to all of you and be proud of your certificate.
Meet the Teacher
Ms Lofters, Curriculum Leader, Second in Charge - English
After a short term's break whilst we introduced the trustees to you; we are back with our 'Meet the Teacher' section. First up is Ms Lofters. We asked her four questions:
- Describe your teaching style in three words - Structured, inclusive, progressive
- What's your favourite book to recommend to students, and why? Any novel written by Toni Morrison as she's a great story teller. My favourite novels by her are Love, Beloved and Jazz.
- What's your favourite thing to do to relax after a long day of teaching? Cook a nice meal and eat with my family.
- What would be your one piece of advice to parents of your students? It takes a village to raise a child. Use the support you get from others who want the best for your child/children.
