Dear Parents / Carers,
It has been another busy week at Kirk Fenton! Two more groups of year 6 children did their bikeability training this week, and the instructors were again hugely impressed with their great attitude. All of the children were successful in gaining their level one and level two certificates. It is great to know that they understand how to stay safe on the road when on their bikes.
Yesterday, a group of year 3 children took part in a tri golf tournament with other schools from our Trust. It is always lovely to get together with our Trust schools, and the children really enjoyed their afternoon of sport.
One of the proudest moments of my week was seeing how hard the year 4 children have been working to gather support to get a reduction in the speed limit outside school. They have shown real passion and dedication to this cause, coming together as a class to improve the safety of our local community. Thank you for the support shown after school yesterday, as they gathered signatures for their petition.
The week ended with a fantastic class assembly from Pankhurst class who shared some of the great learning that they have done this term. I was so impressed with the work they had put into this and at how confidently they shared their learning. Well done year 5!
Finally, yesterday was School Governors Awareness Day, so I wanted to say a big thank you to our governors who volunteer to work behind the scenes to support our school and shape the future of our children. If you are interested in this rewarding and interesting role, find out more about volunteering as a governor at: https://web.starmat.uk/governance/governor-information-and-vacancies/
Have a lovely weekend.

Message from Head Pupils
This week, year 4 started a petition outside school to try and get the road opposite school’s speed limit changed to 20 mph. On Thursday, eight children from year 3 represented the School in a tri-golf tournament. They finished in 4th, well done! This morning, year 5 presented their class worship to parents and KS2 children. Everyone spoke wonderfully and they did amazingly.
Head Pupil Awards go to Martha (Y2) and Holly (Y1)
Freddie & Ella
This week in school we have had a competition to see if we could get every child using either Numbots or TTR for 10 minutes over the week. Any class that achieved 100% was going to enjoy an extra break time. The winning class was Luther King with 83% of children practising for 10 minutes but, sadly, no class achieved 100%. We are going to try the same challenge next week and see if we can all win a free break time!
Well done to the following children who have worked hard on Numbots this week, Sonny L, Mykytir S, Alfie W, Max C, Sienna H, Zara S, Jaxon M, Benjamin G and George H. Our Rockstars of the week are Ella K, Will G, Finlay O, Annabella G, Willow H, Theo M and Seb E. Well done everyone!
