Become a PTCC Officer
The last day to nominate is today, April 17
GLOBE's Parent Teacher Community Council (PTCC) will elect new leaders for the 2024/25 and 2025/26 school years later this month. Step up and nominate yourself to serve as an Officer.
If you are interested in running for the position of Co-Chair or Secretary for the PTCC, please email your name, position of interest and a summary (not to exceed 500 words) on why you would like to hold an officer position to the Executive Director, Christi Elliott-Earby and to the PTCC Co-chairs.
Please detail your past experience at GLOBE or other school leadership positions. Candidates will be evaluated based on why they are interested and prior parent involvement/volunteer experience. Deadline for nominations (including self nominations) is today, April 17, 2024. School-wide elections will be held April 24 – May 8, 2024.
If you have any questions, feel free to email the PTCC Officers.
Middle School Language Program
Students celebrate the end of Francophonie
French I celebrated the end of Francophonie with their teacher, Mme. Daphna Malka.
Students had the opportunity to try authentic French foods as a group. Some items, such as the crêpes, were made by Mme. Malka and brought to the school. Merci Mme. Malka for your efforts to bring cultural learning to life!
Georgia Milestones testing started today
Georgia law requires that all students in grades 3–8 take the Georgia Milestones, designed to provide information about how well students are mastering the state adopted content standards. Georgia Milestones is designed to provide students with critical information about their own achievement and their readiness for their next level of learning. Parent resources for Milestones can be found here. View the recent email sent out to families, here.
GLOBE's transportation program
Last week GLOBE took delivery of two brand new propane powered school buses. These vehicles will be brought into service at the beginning of the 2024/25 school year to provide limited transportation to and from a hub location to GLOBE's Upper and Lower campuses, on a daily basis. To view the email communication that was recently sent out, click here. Please take a moment to complete this bus transportation survey to express your interest and provide feedback. We are so excited to begin our transportation program at GLOBE!

GLOBE students yield major successes at state science fair!
The UGA Science and Engineering Fair took place last weekend at The Classic Centre in downtown Athens, Georgia. Middle and high school students from across the state presented their original research, competed for awards, and interacted with top-level professional scientists and engineers. Connections at UC
Night of the Arts
Thank you to everyone who attended last week’s ‘Night of the Arts’ event organized by the Connections arts and music departments. It was lovely to see so many families attend and enjoy a memorable and highly original arts show performed across three separate stages in the cafeteria, foyer and auditorium at Upper Campus. The students that took part did a fantastic job and knew they had been part of something special. Thank you to the music and art teachers, the Night Owls, and all of the volunteers who helped make the event a success. Stay tuned for next year’s show!
Music
In 5th grade music, the students have been learning about the instruments of the band. Here, students in the French track are exploring the instruments of the percussion section.
Physical Education
PE is finishing up the Pickleball Unit. Students enjoyed playing the very fast paced game!

Volunteer hours can help GLOBE receive grants
Did you know that when you volunteer, it can help GLOBE receive grants? Some donors want to know how involved the community is. We can show them that parents are invested in the school by sharing the volunteer hours we have tracked. So please remember to log your hours here. When you log your time, you'll also be entered in our drawing for a volunteer-of-the-month carpool flag. As a reminder, each family is requested to volunteer ten hours each year. To see current volunteer opportunities, click here. Thank you for volunteering at GLOBE.
Shopping can help GLOBE!
Did you know when you shop at places like Publix, Kroger, and OfficeMax/Office Depot, they will donate to GLOBE PTCC? To find out how to easily set this up, click here. Every penny counts!
