FAFSA UPDATE
Dear Students and Families,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention an important update regarding the distribution of FAFSA information by the US Department of Education.
Recently, the Department of Education announced a delay in the dissemination of FAFSA details to schools, with the anticipated start date now scheduled for the first half of March. Until this information becomes accessible, colleges and universities will be unable to access their students' FAFSA data. Consequently, the release of financial aid award letters for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year will be subject to further delays. Additionally, students seeking to make corrections to their FAFSA will also need to wait until sometime in March.
This delay is attributed to a recent adjustment made by the U.S. Department of Education to the formula used for calculating financial aid eligibility. While this adjustment aims to enhance eligibility for a broader spectrum of students to receive financial aid, it regrettably results in a postponement of the delivery of FAFSA information.
Throughout this period of delay, should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly. Alternatively, you can contact FAFSA at 1-800-433-3243.
Your understanding during this time is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Michelle Tidball

The student intern will perform on-the-job training at their designated job sites, which may include architectural and engineering firms, construction companies, banking, financial institutions, and governmental agencies, for the first three days of each work week, where a supervisor will assign them meaningful projects.
Some companies may choose to extend students’ internships and/or offer bonuses after their internships end. Once a week, student interns will participate in a Financial Literacy and Life Skills training. Furthermore, if all internship requirements are met, student interns will be eligible to apply for SBI scholarship awards.

The Clark County Law Foundation is Recruiting for the Youth Restorative Program
The Clark County Law Foundation is currently recruiting students for the Youth Restorative Program (previously known as Trial by Peers).
The Youth Restorative Program (YRP) offers you a unique opportunity for students between 12 to 17 years old who are interested in advocating for their peers.
Enrollment and Training: They will undergo a rigorous 7-week summer course, equipping them with essential skills for effective advocacy in restorative justice circles. Through seminar-based classes, they'll delve into various aspects of the legal system, learning how to research laws and develop skills in communication, negotiation, and critical thinking.
Youth Advocates: Once they complete the training, they can opt to become a Youth Advocate. As a volunteer, they'll commit to advocating for individuals referred to the YRP. Under the guidance of licensed attorneys who act as mentors, they'll deepen their understanding of the restorative justice process and receive ongoing legal education and guidance.
Mentorship and Growth: They will play a vital role in their community as a Youth Advocate, offering support to their peers and contributing positively to their surroundings. Additionally, they'll attend Continuing Legal Education (CLE) sessions hosted by the YRP monthly. These sessions will serve to reinforce their knowledge and further enhance their advocacy skills, ensuring continuous growth and development.
