Principal's Message
Principal's Message
Dear Bonita Vista Middle School Community,
I hope this message finds you all doing well. As we approach the CAASPP testing week, this week will be our last before our students take the Math, English, and Science CAASPP Assessments. Only 8th graders will undergo the Science assessment. While we understand the importance of these exams, we also want to emphasize that this is just one aspect of our assessment and evaluation of student learning at Bonita Vista Middle School.
As we approach these high-stakes tests, we acknowledge that it can create additional anxiety and stress for students, parents, and staff. We want to assure everyone that we take these concerns seriously and have taken measures to ensure our students are well-supported during this time. The message is to inform and remind everyone about the upcoming testing week. Please plan accordingly, as the entire week (May 6 - May 10) will have minimum days.
Also, I want to congratulate all of our Spring Sports Teams, including Boys' Volleyball, 8th Grade Girl's Volleyball, 7th Grade Girl's Volleyball, Girls' Flag Football, Boys' Flag Football, and Track. Most of our teams have concluded their seasons, and we are proud to announce that our 8th Grade Volleyball Girls played in the Championship Game last Saturday against Eastlake Middle School. At the same time, our Boys Flag Football Team upset the #1 Seed (Mar Vista Academy) in the Semi-Finals. Our Boys Flag Football will play for the Championship this Saturday at Bonita Vista High School at 1 pm as they defend their Championship Banner from last year. Additionally, Track is still competing and will have a track meet in May. Congratulations to all our wonderful student-athletes! You have once again represented our school well!
Lastly, please join me for Coffee with the Principal from 5 pm to 5:45 pm this Thursday in our School Cafeteria. We will share the results of our latest Student Empathy Interviews and further discuss the culture at Bonita Vista Middle School. Don't forget to scroll down to the bottom of this newsletter to find out about your new Family Circle Program and to learn more about Summer Camps at Southwestern College.
Thank you for your continued support. I wish our students the best of luck on their upcoming tests.
Sincerely,
Dr. Salazar
