Message From The Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we continue through the academic year, I wanted to take a moment to emphasize the importance of regular school attendance for your child's success.
Each school day is an opportunity for your child to learn and grow. Regular attendance not only reinforces what has been taught in previous lessons but also prepares students for future learning. Missing school can lead to significant gaps in knowledge, making it difficult for students to keep up with their learning.
This message is a reminder that students are allowed 10 absences for the school year. This includes absences that are excused, excused with a parent note, and unexcused absences combined. If a student has over 10 of these combined absences then they may be in jeopardy of not passing the class and will have to attend summer school. Having said this, please review your student’s attendance. Please submit any medical notes if your student’s attendance is approaching the 10 allotted absences. Medical notes from a certified medical practitioner will not count against your student’s 10 allotted absences.
We appreciate your support. - Alison Thornley
2023-2024 Parent School Climate Survey
The Education Accountability Act requires the annual school report card to include evaluations by parents of each school. The goal of this parent survey is to identify strengths, weaknesses, and to define opportunities to improve parental involvement at our school and in the state. Additionally, the parent survey provides information to improve school and district performance. We ask that all MMSOA parents complete this survey before March 22nd.
The 2023-2024 Parent School Climate Survey is available in the PowerSchool Parent Portal website under Forms. If you are not able to access the survey, please contact Sherri Scoggins at MMSOA at scoggins@bcsdschools.net.
Accessing the Parent Climate Survey
• All families of public-school students may complete one Parent and Guardian Survey for each of their students. Only one survey per family should be completed per student.
