Now, I love getting to coach my own kids and their friends!!

A: Math and science!
March Students of the Month
Senior Owen Yamaguchi
- I've never been able to teach Owen, but I have appreciated our many interactions in the halls and during sports. He consistently conducts himself with maturity and responsibility. (Rondema)
- I've appreciated Owen's good questions and attention throughout this school year. He always brings a positive attitude to class and is ready to do the thing. Gracias por sus esfuerzos, Owen. :) (Wise)
- Owen is in my homeroom class. He's extremely mature and polite and engages in the material. I'm grateful to have Owen in our homeroom. (McIntyre)
- I can't believe Owen hasn't been Student of the Month before now! He excels in the classroom with a combination of thoughtfulness, insight, and intelligence but his presence is equally noteworthy. He carries himself with a quiet, respectful confidence that belies his age. Corbett will miss him immensely next year. (Spanjer)
- Owen is wonderful to have in science class this year. He is always prepared and ready to engage in the activities we do each day, often offering insights and perspectives to enhance class discussion. Owen is always willing to take the first step in diving into the lesson and uses independent thinking to engage in tasks at a deeper level, showing a true enjoyment of learning. (Trisel)
- Owen epitomizes the embodiment of positive contribution within the classroom environment. Not only does he excel academically, displaying exceptional intelligence and a thirst for knowledge through his avid reading habits, but he also embodies the virtues of citizenship and integrity through his contributions to the yearbook staff, leadership, and the soccer team. Owen's genuine care for others' wellbeing and learning makes him a joy to be around. (Hart)
Junior Korbin Heuker
- Korbin is always willing to jump into discussions thoughtfully and demonstrates deep thinking in his written work for AP Lit. Above all, he is kind and inclusive—he brings new or excluded peers into the conversation and actively creates a positive community. I appreciate him very much! (LK)
- Korbin was a pleasure to have in Intro. to Spanish last year. He was an active participant, brought good energy to class, and really excelled in class. Look forward to having him in class again in the future. (Wise)
- Korbin is a great student. He always participates, asks questions to improve his Spanish, completes all work independently and is a fun, engaged person who makes our class a better place. (McIntyre)
- Having Korbin in 1st period APUSH this year means always having a friendly, kind, and thoughtful morning voice. He's a valuable part of the Corbett High School community! (Spanjer)
- Korbin is a great influence to have in science class this year in that he participates well in class discussions and helps others around him when collaborating in a group. (Trisel)
- Korbin courteously listens whenever he is in the classroom, approaching the learning with a smile. He holds himself to high standards of academic performance and consistently meets those expectations. (Binschus)
Sophomore Jessie McGrew
- Jessie works hard! She is thoughtful, curious, and kind. In short, she is a wonderful part of English Period 8. Thank you for being lovely! (LK)
- Jessie, I appreciate your insight in both AP Studio Art and AP Psychology. Keep it up! (A. Young)
- Jessie McGrew is a positive and encouraging member of our Track and Field team. She works hard and sets a great example for her teammates. (Rondema)
- Jessie is a student that you can count on to get stuff done. Although she isn't the most out-spoken student (not a bad thing) she always is paying attention, asking questions as necessary and checking in with me to see how she can improve. It's evident that she cares about her own success. ¡Gracias, Jessie! (Wise)
- Jessie McGrew is an exceptional APUSH student! Her quiet and calm presence in class are very welcomed by me. (Spanjer)
- Jesse has excelled in all aspects of woodworking over the past two years, developing proficiency with most of the tools in the shop. She has a great work ethic and takes initiative to continue making progress on creative projects. (Estes)
- Jessie quietly attends to every minute of class with an unyielding pursuit of understanding. Surprise sparks of energetic enthusiasm emerge from time to time, so she is a delightful balance between smiles and studies. (Binschus)
Ninth Grader Tristan Stone
- Tristan, your artwork shows careful observation and intentionality, and our class benefits from your observations. (A. Young)
- Tristan really impressed me in Spanish class last year. He was hard-working, brought a good attitude to class and really progressed throughout the year in his Spanish. I look forward to having him in class again! (Wise)
- Tristan is a great addition to the class. He actively works to improve his Spanish, is polite and respectful, and is an overall positive presence in the class. (McIntyre)
- Tristan is such a lovely voice and presence in World History class this year. He's always willing to take risks in his thinking and in doing so help his classmates learn. (Spanjer)
- Tristan is knocking it out of the park in computer science. We cover some challenging material throughout the year, at a rigorous pace, and he consistently demonstrates a strong understanding and a positive attitude. (Estes)
- Having Tristan in science and homeroom for the past two years, I can see that he is a hard working student that cares about putting much thought and effort into his academic work. He is also a valuable team member when I have seen him work in groups, and help others around him. (Trisel)
- Tristan always approaches class with an enthusiastic desire to learn. He is courteous and is regularly working to help those around him. I look forward to hearing him speak in class because it supports the joy that can be found in learning and teaching. (Binschus)

How to decide where to go to college
Choosing a college is a big decision. Follow these steps to help you decide.
Congratulations! You’ve been accepted to college. Now it’s time to make a decision about where you will attend. Source: oregongoestocollege.org
Review your options
You applied to colleges you thought would be a good fit for you academically, socially, and financially. Now is the time to consider what is most important to you as you weigh your options. Which college best matches your current needs? Use our Making a Decision guide to help you consider all the variables.
If possible, visit the colleges
The best way to get to know a college is to spend time on campus and meet current students and faculty members. Many colleges offer special visit days for admitted students. If you aren’t able to visit in person, check out virtual tours or talk to a current or former student at the college.
Consider all the costs
The cost of college is more than just tuition. It also includes housing, transportation, and other costs. Review your financial aid offers and calculate what you will actually pay. Calculate your total cost for all of the years you will be in college as well as your estimated loan repayment.
Look at the data
Learn more about student success at your college at College Scorecard. Pay attention to the data on:
- graduation rates
- average salary 10 years after graduating
- the percentage of students who are paying down their debt. This means they are not defaulting on their student loans.
Talk it through
Discuss your options with your parents, a teacher or counselor at your school, a trusted adult or even a friend or sibling.
Know there is no right answer
There are many colleges that might be a good fit for you. And your decisions might be different from what friends or family think. Know that if a college doesn’t end up being a good fit, there are options to transfer or change colleges.
Follow up
Once you have a made a decision about where you plan to attend college, you need to notify the college. You may also need to complete extra paperwork to accept your financial aid. You should also notify the colleges you will not attend.
