The Ruminant Song
Kids Coding Cows!
Students are learning about the digestive system of ruminants (cows, sheep, goats) but they are also learning to code Java script. Students use a program called Scratch Coding. This was invented by MIT- and it's an easy way for kids to learn how to code computer program languages.
Students will eventually animate how a digestive system works for a ruminant animal. They must (1) draw original artwork (2) research how a ruminant stomach works (3) write all materials (4) upload/download all data into a computer program and (5) code it.
If I haven't lost you by now- there's around 100+ steps your child needs to follow. I am AMAZED at their ability. This is a complicated, detailed, creation process- and these kids are producing work beyond my expectations. In my next newsletter- I will share the the computer programs with you. For now...here are some work-in progress pictures.
Research
Abigail is researching online and with worksheets how a digestive system works.
Drawing
Ethan drew a Brahman cattle and it's 4-part stomach.
Watercolor
Jace blends many colors to accurately portray Brahman cattle.
Writing
Kenzie researches the digestive system and writes her script for her animation
Below are all the students' paintings that will be scanned into the computer for their animation. Each student has a cattle painting and a close up, stomach drawing. If you'd like a full size, digital version, please email me.
