Stonehedge Library
March 4, 2024
Greetings from the Library!
March is here and things are getting really busy!
We are doing some great library lessons: 4th-graders are doing research about organism life cycles. 3rd-graders are starting research about solar eclipses. 2nd-graders are learning about “economic interdependence” (aka “communities”). 1st-grade and Kindergarten students are enjoying many stories from Dr. Seuss, and our UPK friends continue to have fun taking books out every week.
This year’s 4th-Grade Book Club will have its first meeting on Friday, March 8th, from 8:00 - 9:00am in the library. Interested 4th-graders can get a flier with details and dates from the library.
March is PARP (Pick a Reading Partner) Month and it’s hard to keep track of all the fabulous activities planned at StONEhedge. In keeping with tradition, we’ll have two Open Library Nights during PARP month to keep our readers stocked with books. OLN will take place on Wednesday, March 6, and Wednesday, March 27, from 6:30 - 7:30pm.
It’s also time for One School One Book! This is the third year that our amazing PTA has purchased a copy of a book for every StONEhedge family to keep. The idea is to have as much of our school community as possible read the same book at the same time. This year’s pick is Zoey and Sassafras: Dragons and Marshmallows, by Asia Citro. Books will be sent home with “oldest and only” students on Thursday, March 7th. Reading will start on Monday, March11. You do not need to read along with the schedule, but we will be having some fun trivia questions that cover each night’s read.
And lastly, our big March event, The StONEhedge I Wonder STEAM Showcase will take place on Thursday, March 21, from 6:00-7:30pm. Our research nights were very well attended. There was a lot of great work and learning happening and we can’t wait to see the results.
March used to be considered a little bit of a boring month…not anymore! We hope everyone finds a fun way to do a little extra reading this month.
