Appleton Echo
Spring Term 2, Week 4
A Word from Mr Broom
It's been one of those weeks where I've only been around for a short period of time, leaving school in the safe hands of Mr Snowden who, together with the staff team, continue to drive our school forward. I've been in Middlesbrough this week and today, I write the Echo from the Spring Ofsted conference in Leeds, where I'm doing my best to tell any lead inspector who will listen, how much we're ready for our school to be inspected. Hopefully one of them will listen.
I did get back on Thursday though to take my super Roebuck Runners for running club. There's some super athletes who come along and you can really tell the difference in how they're improving their running styles. I also got chance to chat with a group of Year 5/6 Boys and Girls about equality, protected characteristics, Fundamental British Values and how school helps to keep them safe both on and off line. There were so knowledgeable and keen to tell me how they are great citizens of our school. I was really proud of them.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

We are aware that a few cases of Scarlet Fever are popping up and are in touch with Public Health England as to how we carefully manage a larger outbreak, should it happen. For guidance on how you can be resilient to the virus, please click here.
Spring Equinox Art Gallery/Easter Disco - Wednesday - No Clubs
Next week is set to be a very busy one, with the Spring Equinox Art Gallery and the Easter Disco to name a few. As this is the case, we won't be hosting clubs next week, to allow our teachers some time to plan and get ready for a super Summer Term.

Car Convos!
Talk is really important for all learners in school and we know that our children are exposed to lots of exciting learning opportunities, both at home and at school. To help develop speaking and listening skills and knowledge of the wider world, we're introducing Car Convos! A topic that we share in the newsletter on a Friday, that families can discuss in the car on their travels. We'll then pick this up after the weekend.
This week in school, Mr Broom talked to groups of boys and girls about what it's like to be a pupil at our school. Our Car Convo this week therefore aims to build on this by asking 'what's so great about Appleton Roebuck Primary School'.
