Update from the Fauquier County School Board
At the May 8th meeting, School Board Chair Stephanie Litter-Reber provided the following update:
"On May 3, 2023, the School Board held a closed session to interview prospective candidates for the Fauquier County Public Schools Superintendent vacancy. The vacancy was advertised in various locations from April 18 – May 1, 2023. We are happy to report to our students, parents, staff, and community that we received great interest in this position. The number of qualified applicants and applications received is a testament to how wonderful our School Division is and our community.
On May 3, 2023, we conducted the first round of interviews during closed session, which included 10 prospective candidates. This afternoon, the School Board went into closed session to continue this process by conducting a second round of interviews. We want to share with you all that the School Board intends to hold a Special Meeting on May 24, 2023, at Fauquier HS where we hope to name the new Superintendent of Fauquier County Public Schools. This timeline allows Human Resources time to complete necessary steps for employment. Please be assured that the School Board is committed to finding the best leader for our School Division. Thank you for your support and patience as we work diligently through the process."

Free professional development exploring the lives of American Veterans
In partnership with the National Cemetery Administration’s Veterans Legacy Program, we are pleased to offer free professional development workshops online in the coming weeks.
Each of these workshops will focus on different aspects of American Veterans’ and Service Members’ lives on and off the battlefield and how to effectively bring that content back to the classroom. Join us to explore the experiences of veterans—including groups that have been underrepresented in our histories because of race, ethnicity, or identity.
Each workshop will feature a 45-minute lecture and Q&A with an eminent scholar, a 1-hour pedagogy session, and a 15-minute virtual tour of a National Cemetery. Participating teachers will receive a certificate for 2.5 hours of PD credit.
