From The School Counseling Department
Course Selection Update
Counselors have been enjoying meeting with their students to hear about their interests and ideas for next year's courses. As of today, about 85% of our 8th-11th graders have met with their counselor and inputted their course requests for next year! Great job! We are hoping to finish by the end of March, although don't panic if you have not yet met with your counselor; meetings are ongoing. Counselors are still finishing up with the 9th and 11th graders individually. 10th graders were called down by groups to the LMC last week, but if anyone was not able to finish, they will be called down in groups again in the near future.
Please see your counselor if you have any questions!
FAFSA Resources:
Federal Student Aid has started processing FAFSAs. Unfortunately, you may not make corrections right now. If your form has been processed, you will see that the corrections feature will be available “later in March”. In the meantime, you can watch this video and read what happens after the FAFSA: https://studentaid.gov/apply-for-aid/fafsa/review-and-correct. At the bottom of this page, there’s a link to another page with instructions for making corrections: https://studentaid.gov/apply-for-aid/fafsa/review-and-correct/correct.

Explore Your Child's Needs with Circle of Security
What is the Circle of Security?
"The Circle of Security® started as a “user-friendly” description of Attachment Theory. It then integrated over fifty years of early child development research into a video-based intervention that strengthens parents’ abilities to observe and improve their caregiving skills. Attachment theory, through the Circle of Security®, offers clear, individualized pathways for providing a secure relationship between parent and child.
"Every child comes into the world seeking a secure relationship with her/his caregivers. The Circle of Security® program helps promote that security."
"A secure attachment between child and caregiver is critical to a child’s current and future well being. University-based research has shown that secure children have increased empathy, greater self esteem, better relationships with parents and peers, enter school more ready to learn, and are able to handle their emotions better than their less secure peers. As they grow older, secure children become less likely to live in poverty, have legal problems, or experience chronic emotional difficulties".
