Message from the Executive Director
Dear GLOBE community,
I trust you all had a wonderful spring break and took the time to recharge. As we embark upon the remaining six weeks of our current school year, I have some exciting news regarding our Upper Campus Head of School position.
Ms. Marsha Huitt will be our Interim Head of School at Upper Campus until the end of the current school year. Ms. Huitt will be a familiar face to many, having served as Interim HOS at UC from 2019 to 2022. We are extraordinarily grateful for her ongoing service to our students, families, and staff. Ms. Huitt assumed her role on Monday and has received a very warm welcome. You will be hearing from her in the coming weeks. Say "hi" if you see her around campus.
Announcing our new Head of School at Upper Campus for the 2024/25 school year
I am delighted to announce the appointment of Ms. Rochelle Lofstrand as our Upper Campus Head of School for the 2024/25 school year. Ms. Lofstrand joined The GLOBE Academy during the summer of 2023 as Assistant Head of School at Lower Campus and soon became a valued and highly respected member of our GLOBE community.
Ms. Lofstrand, who will officially assume her new role in July, has nine years of principal experience throughout the metro Atlanta area. Rochelle's shared vision, coupled with her sturdy and compassionate leadership, will be a great asset to Upper Campus.
GLOBE has started the process of finding its next Lower Campus Assistant Head of School. We will, of course, keep you informed of any news. As always, please feel welcome to reach out with any questions or concerns.
In Community,
Christi Elliott-Earby
Executive Director
Georgia Milestones testing begins next week
Georgia law requires that all students in grades 3–8 take the Georgia Milestones, designed to provide information about how well students are mastering the state adopted content standards. Importantly, Georgia Milestones is designed to provide students with critical information about their own achievement and their readiness for their next level of learning. Parent resources for Milestones can be found here.
Join us tomorrow night for Night of the Arts at UC
Please join us this Thursday, April 11, at 6:30pm, as GLOBE's Fine Arts Department hosts our inaugural Night of the Arts. The evening includes a gallery show of GLOBE middle schoolers' art work and small ensemble and solo performances by GLOBE music students and staff, in both the Auditorium and Cafeteria. In addition, Zubi's Taco Kitchen will be selling tacos. All are encouraged to join us on Thursday for food and entertainment! View the flyer here.
Donate your used solar eclipse glasses
We hope you all enjoyed the spectacle of the eclipse. It was magnificent, even with our little slice of it. GLOBE recently came across an organization that is collecting used eclipse glasses to send to Latin America for the solar eclipse due to happen there in August. If you are uncertain what to do with your glasses and want to be environmentally friendly, bring your used glasses to the front office at UC and they will be packaged up and sent off. They don't have to be the glasses provided by GLOBE, any eclipse glasses are accepted.
Last chance to support the 8th grade trip to Savannah
Donate $1 to come to school uniform-free for the day at LC and UC, on Thursday April 11. At LC, volunteers will be collecting donations at the carpool drop-off door and the walker door. At UC, volunteers will be at the carpool drop-off door and the instrument drop-off gate. To keep the collection process moving swiftly, exact change and dollar bills (not coins) are preferred. Funds collected go to support the 8th grade trip to Savannah in May. Thank you for your support.

Lost and Found: Please label your items
Parent volunteers return labeled items to the owner's classroom. If your items are not labeled, they may never make it back home. Please take a moment to find a labeling solution that will work for you. Here are some ideas to get you started: Avery No-Iron Kids Clothing Labels, Sharpie Fabric Marker, and Mabel's Labels (customizable labels and stamps, dishwasher and laundry safe. Enter "The GLOBE Academy" in the "support a fundraiser" field, and they'll donate 20% back to GLOBE!).
Volunteer hours can help GLOBE receive grants
Did you know that when you volunteer, it can help GLOBE receive grants? Some donors want to know how involved the community is. We can show them that parents are invested in the school by sharing the volunteer hours we have tracked. So please remember to log your hours here. When you log your time, you'll also be entered in our drawing for a volunteer-of-the-month carpool flag. As a reminder, each family is requested to volunteer ten hours each year. To see current volunteer opportunities, click here. Thank you for volunteering at GLOBE.
Shopping can help GLOBE!
Did you know when you shop at places like Publix, Kroger, and OfficeMax/Office Depot, they will donate to GLOBE PTCC? To find out how to easily set this up, click here. Every penny counts!
