Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well and filled with pride for the incredible journey we've embarked upon together at Essex County Newark Tech. As the proud principal of this remarkable institution, I am continuously amazed by our parent community's dedication and unwavering support.
At Newark Tech, we understand the pivotal role parents play in shaping the lives of our students. Your encouragement, guidance, and love provide the foundation upon which our children build their dreams. Your presence at parent-teacher conferences, school events, and volunteering efforts demonstrates your dedication to ensuring the best possible future for your child.
The chronic absenteeism rate in New Jersey is 17.9%. Thanks to your incredible support, I am thrilled to announce that our chronic absenteeism rates are at an all-time low. The Newark Tech chronic absenteeism rate for February was 4.2%, and we now have the best attendance rate in the entire district! This is a testament to our school's and parents' strong partnership. By prioritizing regular attendance, you have shown your commitment to your child's education and future success.
As we celebrate this milestone, let us continue to work hand in hand to nurture and empower our children. Let us remain steadfast in our efforts to instill in them the values of perseverance, curiosity, and kindness that will guide them throughout their lives. Please take a look at all the exciting things happening at Newark Tech. I encourage you to follow me and Vice Principal Jannah on Instagram at @Principal.Williams & @VP.Jannah
Once again, thank you for your unwavering support and dedication. Together, we are creating a brighter future for our children, our community, and future generations.
With Heartfelt Gratitude,
Jenabu C. Williams, MPA, M.Ed

Mr. Williams named New Jersey Amistad Principal of the Year
I was honored and humbled to be named Amistad Principal of the Year by the Bugg Foundation on Sunday. The Bugg Foundation is committed to ensuring education on the social and cultural importance of African American and racial history, the African Diaspora, urban disparity, civil rights, and Economic Empowerment while bringing essential events to the forefront in New Jersey, such as Juneteenth.
The Bugg Foundation was integral in supporting the implementation of the NJ Amistad Commission, which was established in August 2002. The Commissionโs mandate is to promote a more comprehensive implementation of educational awareness in public schools regarding the African slave trade, slavery in America, and the many contributions Africans have made to American society.
This honor, bestowed upon me during Black History Month, is an accomplishment I will never forget. Itโs also proof that the research-based educational best practices we implement at Newark Tech daily to increase student achievement are working! Big shout out to all the faculty and staff who have helped to make Essex County Newark Tech one of the best high schools in the state. I would also like to thank my wife, Bennay, and all my family members that came out to support me. To God be the Glory!
