The Viking Spotlight is the part in my weekly newsletter used to highlight and celebrate our students and staff anytime we can! If you would like your child acknowledged for something they have accomplished, whether on campus or off-campus, please feel free to fill out this google form HERE. I look forward to celebrating our Vikings and all of the great things they are doing!

This week's Viking Spotlight goes to 7th grade track star, William Moreland. At the first middle school track meet of the season on March 16th, William had an amazing day clinching first place for the 100m, 200m, and 400m dash races!!! What a great start to the season for our lone track runner this season!! We look forward to more great things from William this season!! 🤗

Just like that, it is April!! 🤯 I hope your Spring Break was everything you desired it to be and that this newsletter finds you all rested and rejuvenated to finish out the rest of the Spring Semester! As we embark upon the last 10 weeks of the school year, I urge students to buckle down and set your focus on doing all of your assignments for your classes, getting to school and class on time every day, and trying their very best on state testing. Parents, I urge you to help keep your child on track with their classes, complete missing assignments, and ensure they get to school on time. Together, we can all work together to ensure your child's success at MVA. As we navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, I am confident that in partnership with parents, students, and staff, we will continue to achieve great things together.

April 1-5 is officially Assistant Principals Week! We are so grateful for our APs, Mrs. Raczkowski and Mr. Murillo! They not only support our students, but they also support our parents and staff! Thank you for all you do to keep our ship moving in the right direction at MVA!!

On the last Friday before Spring Break, we held our first ever Schoolwide Color Run and Field Day! It was a great way to end the week going into break and our students and staff had so much fun!!! Click the link below for a quick recap video!

During the first week of break, our VALOR program took students on a few field trips including the San Diego Zoo, the San Diego Safari Park, Coronado Beach, and a couple field days at local schools. The students had a great time and the best part...it was all FREE!!! Don't miss out on these fun opportunities during our breaks, so look out for the next one! 🤗

Our Spring Sports are back in action this weekend! Come out and support our teams at Southwest High School!

We are always looking to keep our MVA library collection updated and relevant to current student interests. Unfortunately, we don't have the funding to continuously do so. Here's where you come in! SunCoast Market Co-op is offering a series of free healthy cooking classes (in Spanish) for parents/guardians every Wednesday in April from 10-11:30am at the IB Boys and Girls Club. In an effort to help support our MVA students, we welcome any donations of school supplies and/or money. All funds would go directly to supporting our MVA students in the form of spirit shirts, celebrations, recognition awards, school supplies, and more.
