Center School Chronicle
Friday, March 8
Proud of our PRIDE!
Congratulations to our PRIDE members, highlighted for their CREATIVITY! We applaud the innovative problem-solving and ingenuity of our student body.
Read Across America
Students celebrated Read Across America with a trip down Rt. 66! Student passports collected stamps as students travelled across the building for a unique read aloud experience. Students and staff enjoyed taking time to share in the celebration of literacy and power of storytelling.
A Look At Learning
Center School mathematicians engage in Number Corner to focus on daily practices and routines that build their number sense, fluency, and problem solving skills.
Working collaboratively is also an essential skill! Students think critically while learning from peers, articulate their thoughts clearly, provide constructive feedback, and build a sense of ownership and responsibility in the problem-solving process.
Center School Book Fair!
Thank you for supporting the Center School Book Fair! Students have many new books to dig into while we continue our March Book Madness. A percentage of the Book Fair profit stay with Center School and continue to support new, engaging additions to our Library Media Center.
National School Breakfast Week
Friday was our finale of celebrating National School Breakfast Week, with a Hawaiian theme!
As always, Miss Kati and Miss Ashley went above and beyond! Students enjoyed ham, egg and cheese on Hawaiian rolls and Pina Colada Smoothies!
Step-Up Concert
Our musicians are looking forward to the Step-Up Concert on Tuesday! Music filled the hallways this week as the band and chorus did a final rehearsal of the program. We hope you are able to join us on the livestream Tuesday at 9:30.
March Madness at Center School
Lucky Leprechaun Fitness
In the month of March, students have the opportunity to challenge themselves with daily exercises using the Lucky Leprechaun's March Fitness calendar. Students are invited to mark off each day they complete and record how many days at the end of the month they participated in those exercises. Feel free to modify exercises as necessary. Students who complete the entire calendar and return it with their adult's signature will receive a lucky surprise and a certificate of completion!
If your child would like to participate, I challenge YOU, their adult, to take part in the challenge with them! It's a great chance to discuss as a family why physical activity is important at all stages of life.
Sincerely,
Kat Robinson
Tech Reminder
Cellphones & Smart Watches
While we recognize the convenience and utility of these devices, we also want to emphasize the importance of responsible usage, particularly within the school environment.
Smart watches and phones have become increasingly prevalent among students, offering a wide range of features and functionalities. However, at our level, their use during instructional time is disruptive and detract from the learning experience. Therefore, we kindly ask for your cooperation in adhering to the following guidelines:
- Cellphones should remain off and secure in backpacks when in school.
- Smart Watches should be placed in a mode that allows for distraction-free learning, most models have a School Mode or Schooltime feature.
As most staff can attest to, service is very spotty in our building. Any urgent messaging from/to students should be communicated through our office. We appreciate your partnership in providing both your child and our staff distraction free learning.

Attendance Matters
If a student has four unexcused absences in one month or 10 unexcused absences in a year they are classified as truant. If a child misses 18 or more days in a school year – excused or unexcused absences – the student is classified as chronically absent.
