Have you applied/reapplied for Free and Reduced Priced Meals?
Free or reduced-price meals are available to students based on household size and income. If income falls below the amount listed below for household size, then students living within the household may qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Students are automatically eligible for free meals if the family receives assistance under the Food Supplement Program or Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) benefits.
Changes and/or status changes occur every year. This year there will be a price category change as of October 11, 2023. Please be sure to apply or reapply in the event your price category is affected by this change.

Attendance
Please note we have implemented a Google form for submission of absences/late arrivals and notes. This form is the only acceptable method of communication and must be utilized for reporting absences/late arrivals and uploading doctor/medical notes ONLY for your student(s). With the exception of COVID reporting in which an email in addition to the absence form must be sent to Nurse Ann, Dr. Fryson and Mrs. Virgil.

ABSENT NOTE SUBMISSION: Please complete this form within three (3) days once your child returns to instruction. Excused absences cannot be placed into SchoolMax until AFTER the child returns to instruction. Family vacations and trips are not considered excused absences. Refer to the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook for further clarification regarding excused and unexcused absences.

Nurse Updates
Nurse Ann and the School Health Services strongly recommend wearing a mask and keeping one available in your child's backpack.
Please help yourself and others -- keep your scholars home when they are not well.
Immunizations
Immunizations must be up-to-date and received by the school nurse to prevent exclusion from school.
Medication forms are attached. Please hand carry newly prescribed medication in the pharmacy packaging. Any adult may deliver the medication to the nurse. (appointments must be made)

Thank you so much Tiger families for participating in this year's Double Good Fundraiser! Over just 4 days, we raised $9,454.50! We will be in touch with the top fundraisers soon regarding prizes!
2024 Muffins for Moms & Matriarchs is coming up! Mark your calendars for May 23 from 7:35-9:35 AM. Moms & Matriarchs should plan to pre-register when we release the link which allows the school and the PTO to plan for and accommodate the number of guests that will be attending. Be on the lookout for the pre-registration link in the coming weeks.
Calling all Tiger Dads and Dudes, we need your help for Muffins for Mom & Matriarchs. Please volunteer your time and talents toward executing this special event! Kind Kindergarten News!
Hello Kindergarten Families:
Our scholars were so excited to come in and share their animal habitat diorama during our gallery walk this week. All the projects were creative, colorful, and amazing, thank you parents for supporting your scholars with this project.
ELA: We will review the short “e” and the long “e” sounds, we will also review punctuations, and will write complete sentences. Our sight words for the week are: find, over, again.
Social Studies:We are continuing to learn about weeks and months of the year.
Math: We are continuing topic 12, learning all about 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes in math.
Science: We will talk about environments; how plants and animals can change an environment.

Your scholars will go home on Friday, March 22, 2024, with an assignment packet for the asynchronous day. Please make sure you sign into the Google document for attendance, and upload your work into Class Dojo.
*Friendly reminder: If your scholar is not feeling well, please keep them home. They should not be in school with a fever, a constant runny nose, or a cough that disrupts their ability to focus and concentrate on their lessons.

Fascinating First Grade News!
Hello First Grade Families:
As we inch towards the start of spring break, I would like to remind everyone that April 2 is indeed an asynchronous half day. Your scholar will need to complete the assigned work given by their teacher on March 22. The asynchronous work does not have to be completed until April 2.
Parents will receive an online “Attendance form” from your scholar’s teacher on the morning of April 2. This form will capture your scholar’s attendance for this half day.

Our Peeping Into Spring S.T.E.A.M. activities were lots of fun. Thank you parents for sending in items needed. You rock! Upon our return from Spring Break, we will continue unit 4, Making a Difference. In Math, we will complete topic continue topic 12, Measuring Length. In Science, we will continue topic 5, Plants and Animals. In Social Studies, we will continue topic 5, Heroes Who Inspire Change. As always, please ensure your scholar reads every night.
We kindly request your support in reinforcing the importance of following our School Motto with your scholars. I will Respect Myself and Others, I will Opt to Be Scholarly, I will Act Responsibly, and I will React with Kindness.

Terrific Third Grade News!
In Social Studies, students will Review Chapter 5: Citizenship and Civic Engagement, and then take the Chapter 5 assessment.
Students will be coming home with their asynchronous work about whole numbers and fractions. They also will have their optional extra credit assignment for our test on equivalent fractions at the end of the week.
In Science, when we come back from break, scholars will finish up our unit on life cycles and traits. We'll review what we've learned and take the assessment.

Weekly News!
Please check SchoolMax weekly to stay abreast of your scholar's progress in their classes. Grades are updated weekly and this is a great conversation starter with your scholar on what is going well and what needs to be improved to continue to have a successful year.
On April 2, 2024 students will be working from home. Work will be released on Google Classroom for Math & Reading Tuesday morning. An email with how to log your scholar's attendance will be sent on Tuesday as well.

Spring Break
Spring Break begins March 22, 2024 at 2:25 pm! Please enjoy your week off! April 2, 2024 will be asynchronous learning. You will receive an assignment from your teacher. Please govern yourselves accordingly. Ensure you complete the attendance Google Form that will be posted on Google Classroom for the asynchronous learning day. We will return to the school on April 3, 2024.

In Social Studies this week, we will be reviewing for the Chapter 6 assessment
RELA
Scholars are focusing on Unit 4 Week 2. We will study "The Scarlet Stockings Spy" with an emphasis on the reading skills: Monitoring Comprehension & Inferring Multiple Themes. The word study focus will be word parts: anti- mid-, and trans-. Our writing practice will be science fiction. Happy Reading!

Greetings,
Classes will primarily consist of independent work to plan and work on their projects. Projects include portraits, still life, architecture, and other activities that develop their understanding of shapes and value in 3D images. We will continue to stress planning and craftsmanship.

First grade is learning about tempo! Second and Third grade students have been learning about dynamics! Fourth grade students are learning about music intervals and fifth grade has been going over notating and playing music scales!
Technology

K-2 students practiced:
Keyboarding: Locate and Type Letters F, G, H, I, and J
The learners receive direct instruction and practice in keyboarding the letters F, G, H, I, and J as they locate and type the letters, recognize the letter sounds, and learn the relationship between the letters on the keyboard and on the screen in this engaging and interactive digital lesson.
3-5 students practiced:
Hardware Fundamentals: Network Basics
The learners receive direct instruction and practice with networking concepts, such as LANs, WANs, and file format compatibility. They gain knowledge about how to use remote equipment and review intellectual property in this engaging and interactive digital lesson.
PE
Good week, this week we are practicing our basketball dribbling skills, so please make sure your scholar has proper athletic shoes, and water as the weather is getting warmer.
