Partial Eclipse - Monday, April 8
On Monday, April 8th, a partial solar eclipse will be making its way through Jefferson City. With such a monumental event occurring during the school day, we will be conducting a viewing of the event for students, faculty, and staff members who wish to participate.
Safety is our top priority, and we would like both you and your student to be aware of the precautionary steps we are putting in place. Homemade or ordinary sunglasses are not sufficient ways to view an eclipse, as the reflectivity and polarization are not high enough for viewing in a safe manner. To ensure that each participant is safe, we will be supplying students and staff who wish to participate with a pair of glasses specifically designed for eclipse viewing. These glasses conform to the transmission requirements set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and glasses must be kept on at all times during viewing.
Students should never look at the sun without special eye protection, and removing glasses even temporarily may have serious effects on your eyes. Because of these safety concerns, a parent or guardian who does NOT want their student to participate must complete the opt-out Google form. Please fill out one form for each child who will NOT be participating.
Little Trebles to Perform at Cardinal's Game!
Our honor choir, Little Trebles, will be performing at a St. Louis Cardinals game on May 5, 2024! We are SO excited about this opportunity for our students and are officially opening ticket sales to the rest of our Blair Oaks families. The game has a start time of 1:15pm and our choir will be performing in Ford Plaza at 12:30pm, prior to the start of the game. Blair Oaks will have its own designated section of seats at the stadium. Tickets are $20 each and include your seat, a jumbo hot dog, and a drink!
If you would like to join in on the fun, tickets can be ordered using the link below. Once the form is filled out, money can be brought/sent into the office and you can pick up tickets yourself or we can send them home with your student. Not only is this a great deal for the whole family, its an opportunity to support our young kiddos as they perform on their biggest stage yet! Click here for additional game day info!
Field Day
We are very excited to host our annual Field Day event on Friday, May 10! We would like to ask our parent volunteers to help make this event a success. Please take a look at the sign up and see if there is a time slot that would work for you to come out on a beautiful day and help our kids enjoy Field Day! We are also asking for snack donations for our concession station. If you are able to donate individually wrapped snacks please sign up below! In the comments section, please list the type of snack and total number of packages you will be sending. We would like to have the snacks delivered to one of the school offices by Monday, May 6th. As always, Blair Oaks thanks you for your support!

Counseling with Ms. Katnik!
For the month of March, the topic we focused on in Counseling was friendships. Throughout this month, we focused on a few different things that have to do with this topic. We talked about making / keeping friends, which included a discussion about how we can form new friendships or maintain the friendships that we have already. We also discussed what it means to tattle vs report and the specific goal / purpose of each of these. In addition, we had a discussion about bullying and explored the difference between bullying, a conflict, and a mean moment. Finally, we covered the concept of conflict resolution and the students were given tips on how they can resolve conflicts in a positive way. Make sure to check back in about a month for another update on what we are doing in Counseling!
