REMINDER: CD Day & Spring Break - NO SCHOOL
A reminder that Friday, March 29, 2024, is a Curriculum Development Day and Spring Break is the week of April 1-5. We hope all of our students and staff have an enjoyable and restful week off, and we will see you back in the classroom on Monday, April 8!
2024 Total Solar Eclipse & 2-Hour Early Dismissal
BCS is preparing for the upcoming April 8, 2024, solar eclipse. Most of West Virginia will experience a partial solar eclipse where 91% of the sun will be covered (eclipsed) by the moon. While this is an exciting phenomenon, we want to ensure our students, staff, and school community stay safe during this historic event.
In addition, Berkeley County Schools will dismiss two hours early on Monday, April 8, due to a Faculty Senate Day. This 2-Hour Early Dismissal replaces the one originally scheduled for Friday, April 12. Students will attend school for the full day on Friday, April 12.
Please contact your school with additional questions, and please visit the website below to learn more.
2025-2029 School Excess Levy Election Information
The upcoming Primary Election on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, will include a Continuation of the Berkeley County School Excess Levy on the ballot. A school excess levy is an opportunity provided to local Boards of Education to focus on improving and maintaining the educational system with community approval.
Fifteen percent of the BCS budget is provided by the school excess levy, and 100 percent of the funds benefit BCS students, staff, and the community. Berkeley County voters have passed the school excess levy since 1948; continuing 75+ years of community support for public education.
