This week...
We have had such a super Positive Psychology Week across our school and nursery!
I have loved wandering into classrooms and seeing such fabulous learning about how to:
recognise our feelings;
manage our reactions to emotions;
contribute positively to the mental health of ourselves and others;
and keep ourselves healthy in every sense!
Have a lovely weekend.
Thank you, as always, for supporting us to
Live, love and learn with the Lord.
Mrs Ronicle
Virtue of Charity
On Thursday, our Mini Vinnies held a cookie sale to raise money for the Good Shepherd Appeal. We had queues the length of the playground and they raised £15! We love how our Mini Vinnies live out the virtue of charity in our school.
They will hold another cookie sale this Thursday, so don't forget your 10p!
Think about ways you can encourage your children to give to charity at home too. This doesn't need to be money - we can donate old clothes or toys, or simply give our time.
Celebration Assemblies!
We do have significant crowds of visitors already, but just a reminder that all families and friends of children in our Preschool (3 years +) and School are welcome to attend our Celebration Assemblies held every Friday, just after 9am. Refreshments are offered, courtesy of the Friends of St Joseph's
Times Table Rockstars!
This week, we held a TimesTable Rockstars CLASS BATTLE!
It's been epic, and the winning class was changing throughout the week!
Totals were added up this morning and the final winners were announced..
Well done to St Bernadette's! They will receive an EXTRA BREAKTIME!
All children have been given a login and these will have been sent home, or stuck in the back of children's planners. Please continue to use this super learning game at home!
Positive Psychology Week
We have enjoyed a fantastic Positive Psychology Week across school!
Please ask your child to talk about their understanding of mental health, and have a look through the learning they have brought home this week!
Below, we are signposting families to resources aimed at how parents/carers can keep the conversations going about well-being and mental health.
Netball team
Thank you to the Year 5/6 children who represented our school so beautifully in a local netball tournament this week.
We are delighted to announce that we took 2nd place!
Thank you to Ms Amor for taking the children and well done to the whole team!
Online Activity
We appreciate how overwhelming it can feel to keep an eye on what our little ones are up to online. Recently, though, we have had some reports of unkindness from some of our children, who have been using online platforms, such as Whatsapp.
Online safety is part of our curriculum and we recently invited PC Spooner into school to hold an informative assembly for our children about staying safe online. We encourage you to set age-appropriate restrictions on your children's devices and to check their activity frequently.
We have attached a guide you may find helpful!
Tadcaster Litter Pick
Please join us to help keep our community tidy!
We are gathering as a school to support our local area on Saturday 13th April.
Please bring friends and family and join us there!
Easter Showcase
Our Mini Vinnies have asked if they can host an Easter Showcase, with dance, drama and song, to retell the story of Easter!
Details are still being finalised but save the date:
Next Friday, straight after Celebration Assembly!
Breakfast Club / Playhub
You should have received information from us about our wraparound care. We are making some changes to the way sessions are booked in our Breakfast Club and Playhub. Please note, we are no longer accepting ad-hoc bookings. If you have any queries, or didn't receive the information, please contact our office, who will be happy to help!
Attendance Update
Whole School Attendance this week: 95.92%
Well done!
This week, we have been above National Average!
We have been learning...
St Nicholas (Nursery)
St Francis (Preschool/Reception)
We loved being in our outdoor area. This week, children in St Francis have continued to explore the theme of pirates and make large constructions of pirate ships, incorporating mark making. We have used Captain Pugwash as a stimulus and thought about what monsters we might see from our ships. It has been a pleasure to see the children's imaginations in action.
St Bernadette (Y1/Y2)
St Bernadette's have loved Positive Psychology week! We decorated Cups of Compliments with our names and have been writing little compliments to our classmates all week. It has been really lovely reading all the kind things we have to say about each other.
St Patrick (Y3/Y4)
This week we have been doing lots of fun activities around positive psychology and wellbeing. We created dances that expressed different emotions, we used the computers to create wellbeing posters and we made positive affirmation chatterboxes to pick us up when we are feeling down. This colourful creation is a great example of one of our chatterboxes which include phrases like: I am special.
