Our Next Event!
Our next big event for our incoming families is on Monday, April 29th. This event is our Kindergarten Information Night and Teacher Panel. This night is dedicated to providing you with a picture of what to expect in kindergarten. Because this is a presentation, it is designed for parents and caregivers only. Based on your program, you will either go to the Multi-purpose room for the monolingual presentation or the gym for the Dual Language presentation. In addition to the presentation, we will have a panel of teachers that will provide information and answer questions to ensure that our families have a solid outline of kindergarten information and expectations. Our goal is to set you and your child up for success. We hope to see you there!
Date: Monday, April 29th
Time: 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Location: Woodland Primary School
Your Child's Learning Style and Kindergarten Placement
Each year when students register I begin the process of placing students in our kindergarten classrooms. Many factors go into student placement and we have a variety of learning environments due to our size. I do my best to ensure that each classroom has positive group dynamics and is well balanced. As I start this process, if you have information you would like me to consider as it pertains to your child’s learning style, please complete the form below by Monday, May 20th.
Important Reminders
Requests for a specific teacher are not recommended, please provide general information to help us in our placement process (teaching style, special considerations, etc.). Teachers change grade levels, positions, or aren't always a fit for your child because they were a fit for someone else's child. Please note that making a request does not guarantee it can be honored.
Please do not request that friends be placed together. The beauty of kindergarten is we are all about making friendships and when students come in and they all went to preschool together, they miss the opportunity to make new friends and find their independence. It can also be uncomfortable if a parent requests for their child to be with another child and the other parent doesn't want this, so please don't ask us to do this.
If your child is a twin or triplet, we recommend that they be placed in different classrooms that are on the same team. This is what I will do unless you reach out me about your twins/triplets specificallly.
Last, because kindergarten is the most difficult when creating classes because most of our incoming students are new to us, I sometimes make changes at the very beginning of the school year based on the chemistry of the students. So, the more information about your child's learning style you can provide, the better informed I am when placing your child.
Every classroom at the Primary School has a unique environment but our curriculum and grade level expectations are the same. My goal is to provide your child with the best experience at Woodland Primary School.
The forms below will be used for this process, please don't email me directly as this will be how all information is streamlined. Thank you!
