Principal's Corner
As we approach the upcoming State Forward Test, we want to take a moment to share some tips on how you can support your child to perform their best. All learners in grades 3-5 will test in the areas of Literacy and Math and grade 4 will also take Social Studies and Science Sessions. Teachers will send out exact testing dates for their grades via SeeSaw.
Here are some simple yet impactful ways you can help set your child up for success:
Good Night's Sleep: Encourage your child to get plenty of rest leading up to the test. A well-rested mind is better equipped to focus and perform at its best.
Healthy Breakfast: Ensure your child starts the day with a nutritious breakfast. A healthy meal fuels their body and brain, helping them stay alert and attentive during the test. We understand that mornings can be busy, and if your child prefers not to eat at home, we're pleased to offer FREE breakfast at school for ALL students. This ensures that every student has access to a nutritious meal before starting their day of learning and testing.
Positive Pep Talk: Offer words verbal and/or written of encouragement and positivity to boost your child's confidence. Remind them that you believe in their abilities and that they are capable of doing their best.
These small gestures can make a big difference in your child's mindset as they approach the test. Encouraging a positive attitude and emphasizing the value of learning and growth beyond test scores can help alleviate unnecessary stress and foster a healthier approach to academic challenges.
A couple last details:
Students will need wire headphones for the test. If your child does not have access to headphones, please let us know so we can get them some to use.
We kindly request your assistance in ensuring that your child attends school regularly during the testing period. To minimize disruptions and help create a focused testing environment, we ask that you refrain from scheduling appointments for your child during the designated Forward testing dates.
By avoiding conflicting appointments, we can better support our students in performing their best on the assessment. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated and will contribute to a smoother testing experience for all involved.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child succeed academically. Together, we can create a positive testing environment where every student feels empowered to showcase their abilities and are focused on effort, growth, and resilience.
Pancake Breakfast
Thank you again to all our volunteers who helped put everything together for our annual pancake breakfast, to all your volunteers that helped to serve and to all of you that were able to join us for a delirious meal! We are so grateful to our families, staff and the Hamburg and Athens community!
State Wide Torando Drill
We will have a tornado drill on April 11th at 1:15. Feel free to have conversations at home regarding weather, safety and any questions your child(ren) may have. This is a learning experience and don't want to cause any nervous or unsteady feelings for our learners.
Maple Syrup Season
Maple syrup season is coming to an end at Maple Grove. Last we will finish syrup chores including collecting the last of the sap, removing bags, and storing equipment. Thanks again to all our teachers and learners for their hard work in making this happen!
Maple Grove Charter School Application for 2024-2025
Enrollment Application is happening now until April 30th. If you are currently NOT enrolled or know someone who is looking to come to Maple Grove please have them fill out the application at this link. This is for new families or new incoming Kindergarteners. If the child does not live in the School District of Athens they will also need to fill out the form on the DPI site that is linked in our application. If you know a family that is thinking about enrolling I am more than happy to talk with them and give them a tour of our amazing school and grounds, just have them contact me or the main office. We are looking forward to another great year in the 2024-2025 school year!
