In an effort to encourage more participation in Kindergarten Enrollment, please share this newsletter with those who may find it useful. If this newsletter does not apply to you or your family, please disregard.
The Town of Plymouth provides district-wide Full Day Kindergarten
Registration Opened February 1, 2024
- To enroll, a child must have reached their fifth birthday on or before September 1, 2024.
- Parents/guardians must register eligible students on the PPS website at https://www.plymouth.k12.ma.us/page/student-registration
- A street listing with school assignments is also available on the PPS website on the Student Registration page linked above.
- Parents/guardians MUST schedule an appointment with the school to finalize registration. Your child's school will contact you to schedule this appointment.
- Eligible students do not need to be present during registration.
- All required documentation must be provided to complete the registration.
- Please note, the online registration application is not mobile friendly. You will NOT be able to create a new account on a mobile device. Please complete the registration on a desktop PC or laptop.
- If you need any assistance with the registration process, please contact the school to which you are registering your child.
Kindergarten Screenings: May 13 - May 31
- Incoming kindergarten students are screened at their assigned elementary school using the Kindergarten Diagnostic Inventory (KDI).
Kindergarten Informational Meeting
- Our elementary schools provide an informational meeting for families of incoming kindergarten students.
- The Kindergarten Informational Meeting will take place prior to the end of the school year.
- Each school has a unique format for this meeting. Check with your child's school for more information and a specific date.
Teacher Assignments
- Teacher assignments will be made in August, approximately one week before school starts.
- Parents/guardians will be notified of their child's kindergarten teacher via email.
Kindergarten Orientation (To Be Announced)
- On the day before school starts for Kindergarten, parents/guardians and students will visit their kindergarten classroom together.
- Each school has its own unique format for this exciting visit. You will receive information from your child's school as to how and when this orientation will take place.
Required Documentation for Registration Appointments
The following documentation is NEEDED for your Kindergarten Registration appointment:
1.) Proof of Residency**
To attend Plymouth Public Schools, a student must reside in the Town of Plymouth. Families registering must demonstrate Plymouth residency as outlined in the Plymouth Public Schools Proof of Residency Guidelines in the registration packet. If the parent/guardian cannot produce the documentation to prove residency, a notarized Residency Affidavit is required.
2.) Child's Original Birth Certificate
A municipally issued copy with a raised stamp or seal. Hospital documentation is not accepted.
3.) Most current Physical Exam with proof of Lead Screening and Immunizations**
Most physicians will provide a computer-generated school health record that includes all immunizations and lead screening after a physical. The following vaccination series is required for Kindergarten and is due before entrance in September. Although immunizations may not be complete by registration, they need to be completed to attend school in the fall. Hepatitis B, Varicella (Chicken Pox), DTaP or DTP, Polio, and MMR vaccinations.
