Dear Bear Creek Families,

Campus is closed Thursday April 25th and Friday April 26th for 3rd through 5th grade STAAR Math testing. We had 98.5% attendance for STAAR Reading and 98.7% for STAAR Science. These assessments assist us in developing our instructional practices. Thank you for sending your students to school rested and ready to celebrate their knowledge. It has been an amazing year.

Wednesday, April 24th is Administrative Professionals Day. We know that Bear Creek is operationally efficient due to the hard work and dedication of Melissa Goodwin, Nery Gouldner, ad Robin Mealey. We appreciate them EVERY DAY.

Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year is open. Austin ISD will begin to make staffing adjustments based on enrollment projections. Also, Bear Creek is experiencing an increased number of transfer requests. We want to assure that all zoned families are accounted for prior to opening the opportunities to other area families. If you need enrollment help, please contact Robin or Melissa for support.

We always seek to place all learners in their best classroom environment. Teachers, Specialized Support Staff, and Administration work together to create student groupings in May. Please use this FORM to share with us your insight about your child(ren).

The next CAC Meeting will be held, Monday, May 6th at 3:30 pm in the Bear Creek Library.

If you are unable to attend the meeting in person, you may observe the meeting via Zoom. Zoom participants will be able to provide comment during Citizen Communication. If you speak during Citizen Communication, please use this FORM.

PTA

Join the PTA on Thursday, April 25 at 5:30 p.m. for a brief General Membership Meeting where we will be electing a new slate of officers, presenting the proposed budget for 2024-25 and presenting updates to the standing rules. The meeting will be followed by Family Art Night! Ms. O'Connell and Ms. Graham will lead us in an interactive family art activity. Pre-registration is required in order to plan for supplies. 🐻Around the Den🐻

Did you know that Bear Creek has a Baking Club? Fifth Grade students wrote a proposal, found an adult sponsor, and developed a cohesive plan to hold a club afterschool! This is an amazing example of student leadership.

Congratulations, to Daniel Xiao. He represented BCE at the 2024 Spring NYOS Scholastic Chess Tournament, where he won 2nd place in the K-3 U400 rated scholastic section.
